Chris Hooker (419 KP) rated Girl Games in Books

Archer does a great job of making being a nerd cool. She is a master of creating a sweet love story between girls you would think would be total social opposites. This book, like others I have read by Archer, is YA/teen friendly so it can be suggested to those young girls just coming out. In fact both main characters deal with questions about their sexuality throughout most of the book.

It could have been so much better
When I watched the first installment of the Divergent series I thought wow this is awesome. Then Insurgent came and it was victim to the sequel curse. When i saw Allegent was coming out I thought for sure they must have learned their lesson.
Nope.
A shame because the actors are fab but their talent is wasted in this.
Wouldn't recommend wasting time watching this.

This book was definitely a page turner. Even when I thought I had it all figured out the last 2 chapters have a twist which I never saw coming! The book was left in a way that the author could write a sequel to it but at the same time I would possibly change genre as there wouldn't really be a mystery to solve.

Karla Dee (6 KP) rated Ophelia After All in Books

This was an amazing latina queer coming of age story that I think many people can relate to much like Juliet Takes a Breath by Gabby Rivera. It's a very diverse coming of age story and I couldn't wait to recommend this one to my bewk club. There was a lot of representation in this book including characters who were bisexual, biromantic, aromantic, pansexual, and plus size. Ophelia coming out was messy and this topic came up in our last book club meeting because we have a latina lesbian in our book club so this book is a perf read for us.
I think that the way Ophelia's crisis was handled was messy but hs typically is when you are trying to find yourself and Racquel did a really good job of showing the complexities of hs. I also loved the characters Wesley, Agatha, Sammie, and Talia. This could be the next big HS tv show hit after Euphoria and I am all for it. Def would want to cast Maddie in a role. #teamophelia

I Was Hooked From The Start
OMG!!! This is not a typical read for me and now I'm asking; "When's the second book coming out?" I must have it! Within the first few sentences, I was hooked!
I love how even though Kyra witnessed the alien invasion and deaths she managed to overcome all obstacles by being strong-minded and working hard to achieve her goals.
The storyline starts strong and remains that way until the end. The world building is fantastic and the characters are simply outstanding and beautiful. This author's writing style is out of this world and the cover is stunning.
