Blow the man down
Bait is a beautiful disorientating gem of a movie about how we failure to understand and communicate with each other on a daily basis. Set in an old fishing village that's having to change with the times while leaving its locals struggling to make a living. bait is loaded with conflict and tension as tourists and locals cross paths and confront each other on a daily basis. Watching bait is a constant visual treat it's scratchy, jumpy, weathered and seemingly missing vital scenes giving it not only a sense of nostalgia but great authenticity too. Dialog is stiff, seemingly mismatched and layered in an almost hazy dream like way adding brilliantly to the overall atmosphere, harsh themes and knife point tension. Acting is tip top too with every single character seething with realistic portrayals of frustration, jealousy, anger and #hatred these along with close up shots of clenched fists and faces showing eyes of sheer boredom add superbly to a film that feels so relatable and incredibly British. Bait is by no means a happy watch with its intense close up imagery, pulsing scratchy film reel and defining silence that accompanies all the constant drama and conflict but theres something so pure, heart warming and nostalgic in all it's damn fine riveting hopelessness that rewards all that stay till it's haunting and mezmerising conclusion.

Are you shopping for Halloween theme books for your child or children? Well. “The Costume Contest” by Roger Carlson is a good one to have on your child’s bookshelves. It deals with Halloween, and it also helps with cooperation and conflict solution.

We meet Aaron and Ava for this story. The story behind this is sweet. Will Aaron help his little sister out with her costume and the contest? You will see that Aaron wants to be something different for Halloween? But did Aaron promise to be a cat with Ava or not?

Children will learn about conflict solutions and solving problems through cooperation. I like how the two kids figure out their trick-or-treating costumes between themselves, though with parents’ support. What does Aaron decide to do?

The author put this story on Halloween, focused on friendship, and saw what happens when they trick-treating. Who ends up willing to participate in the costume contest? The pictures are so colorful. Are the different costumes you see while Aaron and Ava are trick or treating? This book is a sweet story and has a few teaching lessons through the book.

Parents will enjoy having this book on their shelves. Children will want to read this book again and again. It is suitable for the Halloween season, along with some teachable lessons for children.

I really enjoyed some of these stories. Even though I don't normally enjoy reading satire that much, some of these stories were really interesting. My favorite story was the novella "Bounty." The idea behind the story was cool in the fact that there were "freaks" and "normals" in conflict with each other was reminiscent of other, more recent stories I have read. I loved how there were supernaturalish aspects to each of the stories was pretty cool too! I would recommend this to people who don't always like reading satire, but want to get into it at some point. Overall, it was an interesting read.

Post war blues
When a soldier is made to feel heroic by the media and general public, we see a broke and conflicted young man battling the horrors of war. I caught this film by accident and stayed up as the storyline grabbed my attention and exposed the difficulties in returning from war a different and damaged version of yourself. The pressure to return home and the pressure of winning and returning to the war zone create a conflict worse than the war itself.

Some great scenes that show the price put on a soldiers story being nothing compared to what it costs then to gain it.
