The hype is definitely justified for this film. It's between this film and @Witness for the Prosecution (1957) for the best courtroom dramas ever made.
The tension is perfect throughout the movie, and the decision-making process on whether or not the defendant was guilty of the crime or not.
Every courtroom drama after this film has been undoubtedly inspired by this film. If you've never seen it and are a fan of courtroom/crime genres, this is a can't-miss film.

Amazing Courtroom Drama
This is the movie that introduced me to the genre that is the courtroom drama. This movie speaks to a lot of issues as well as being extremely well thought out. Tom Cruise really shines in his role in this movie and is especially good in the final act of the film. I would highly recommend this film to anyone who is a movie buff.

A very powerful racial thriller with great courtroom action, outstanding acting from the leads in what may seem to be a cliched and somewhat formulaic script that may seem to somewhat glorify vigilante justice. I enjoyed this one although I understand it was divisive upon it's release.

A decent film, looking a little dated now. Not the best performances of either of the two leads, personally surprised to read Jodie got an Oscar for this? It's not really a courtroom drama either. An interesting story never the less which will make you want to see the outcome.
