An unnecessary sequel
Yet again this is another sequel that was entirely unneeded and unnecessary. Whilst the original wasn’t brilliant or a classic, it was at least very creepy and bleak, and the ending was quite interesting and what i found the scariest thing of all about the entire film.
Sadly this sequel fails because it mostly ruins the ending of the first film. It’s initially more of the same but set in a trailer park, with characters who make some very dodgy decisions that wind up getting them hurt/killed. It’s quite bloody and gory at least, and still kind of creepy, and it has a killer soundtrack. The two kids do fairly well, and as with Hard Times at the El Royale, Lewis Pullman really shines and he makes this worth sticking with. The ending however is a little lacklustre and is just your typical horror movie ending. It wasn’t unusual or creepy and bleak like the original, and this is such a shame. Had they improved the ending, I may have rated this a little higher.
Edit 19th Aug 2020:
Having just rewatched the original, I has to return and rate this higher. Not only does it have the killer soundtrack it has some great performances and is a lot more entertaining than the original. There's still a lot of stupidity in this, but it's definitely the better of the 2 films.

I didn't want it to end
I love Horror so I was really excited for this to come out. I didn'y really know what to expect as I haven't watched the original 'IT' yet, or read the book by Stephen King, but I knew the basics of what this movie was about.
I loved the way this film makes you feel and the style of it, it's not like all other horror movies out there. There is a bit of a Stranger Things vibe to it, which I loved.
I absolutely adored Pennywise in this remake, I loved the way he moved his body, it added to the creepyness of the film.
I found it more creepy and a bit disturbing than I did scary, there was one jump scare that got me though.

The ending couldn't save the rest of the movie (3 more)
Cliche plot you have seen before
Bad acting
Annoying characters
The internet's bloody mary
This was a terrible movie
Bloody mary meets unfriended? It feels like a typical supernatural slasher you have seen plenty of times.
None of the characters are likeable, if anything they are actually annoying right from the first start especially the main girl. Again there is no logic, it's not creepy or gory and I found it just boring.
Don't get me wrong I love urban legends when it is done right.
The killer was not designed well, not shown enough and not creepy enough. Only a few deaths that were not scary or gory.
I couldn't wait for this movie to end but I'm happy I watched it so that you don't have to. It was paced horribly and even a good twist at the end couldn't save this movie.

A very unsettling atmosphere (1 more)
A great cast of characters
Some of the special effects are B-Movie level (1 more)
Its a little hard to follow at times
Argentina brings the creepiness
This Shudder exclusive was a very present surprise, featuring some genuinely creepy scenes, and a very interesting take on demons (?) and the lore surrounding them.
The cast are great, chewing scenery when they need to, and playing just the right amount of seriousness to keep the viewer engrossed.
There are some great stand out scenes, and there are moments remind me of movies like 'In the Mouth Of Madness' and 'Insidious', but to draw too many comparisons does this film a discredit.
its great fun, a little weird, but plenty creepy, and it keeps you guessing as to who's story it is, who is our protagonist, and whether you will get a happy ending at all.
I really enjoyed it, and I think fans of supernatural horror, or Lovecraftian madness will find something to like here.

Some decent creepy moments
The first time I watched this I remember being ridiculously creeped out, mostly from one of the final lines that explains the stranger's motives. On watching this again, it is a little disappointing.
My main issue with this film is with the actions of the main characters. None of what they do to try and save themselves makes sense, and neither of them are made out to be likeable or endearing either, to the point where you really don't care what happens to them. It's a shame as this does have some creepy moments, from the "he's behind you" type scenes to that motive reveal at the end - these were really enjoyable.
I never thought I'd say this, but in the case of The Strangers the sequel is definitely better. These two films seem like worlds apart and sadly I think this original film is lacking in a lot that the sequel gave in abundance.

BOOKS CAN BE DEADLY
From the bestselling author of Come with Me, four standalone horror novellas set in a shared universe!
In The Skin of Her Teeth, a cursed novel drives people to their deaths.
A delivery job turns deadly in The Dark Brothers’ Last Ride.
In This Book Belongs to Olo, a lonely child has dangerous control over an usual pop-up book.
A choose-your-own adventure game spirals into an uncanny reality in The Story.
I really enjoyed 3 out of 4 of these stories. My favourite was This Book Belongs to Olo about a lonely boy just wanting to make friends granted he goes the wrong way about it but hey he’s creepy. These are all from the same universe and are all linked in one way or another, they all include a creepy or possessed book. The writing is just brilliant.

I'm slowly trudging through all of Ballard's books, and I really wanted to like this one. It kind of just left me feeling sick at the end. It was amusing that the president was Charles Manson. The description of all of the weirdness of Las Vegas after 'civilization' left was haunting and completely creepy. I feel like the makers of Blade Runner 2049 read prior to writing the script. I knew it seemed familiar!
