Interesting plot twists
Excellent crime thriller
A great series following a bunch of FBI recruits after a terrorist attack, could one of them be behind the attack? Told largely in flashback along side the current investigation after the attack. Great fun for anyone interested in the FBI, crime thrillers.

A great crime thriller
Clare Mackintosh really knows how to write a good crime thriller. Her background in policing comes across so obviously and it makes for a very detailed and realistic story. With a background on policing myself it's refreshing to read a crime story that isn't completely hollywood-ised. Embellished a little maybe, but still a very good representation of policing today.
The plot itself is good and interesting, although potentially not entirely unique. The characters are well developed and I like the twists, some are definitely surprising whereas others may be a little more predictable.
In all a very good, well written crime story that is definitely not run of the mill.

Fantastic historical crime thriller
It's a rarity to find a historical crime thriller based in a country other than the US, UK or Australia so this was a refreshing welcome. Abir Mukherjee does a fabulous job of bringing Kolkata to life and bringing in a protagonist who is sympathetic to the 'natives'.
As someone with roots in Kolkata and having lived there for many years, it was wonderful to remember the humdrum of India. And more importantly weaving in some of the hypocrisy found during colonialism to make it a realistic account.

Mix of crime mystery and supernatural
Atmospheric Thriller with a disappointing ending
A 6 part thriller on the BBC that starts very well, but sadly the ending was a let down. A good haunted house vibe mixed with a crime story of a missing child from 23 years ago. The first 4 episodes were fine and some of the plot reveals were good. Unfortunately the supernatural element to it and the vague ending will no doubt annoy many people. It's ok overall but could have been great with a better finish.

I enjoyed this book very much; it is more than just a police procedural crime thriller. For my review, please see my blog - http://readingstuffnthings.blogspot.com/2015/03/no-place-to-die-by-clare-donoghue.html - which has a new home :)
