ArecRain (8 KP) rated Mated with the Cyborg (Cy-Ops Sci-fi Romance, #2) in Books
Jan 18, 2018
I received a complimentary copy in exchange for an honest review.
I learned the hard way that cyborg/android stories tend to either be good, or absolutely horrible. There seems to be no in between. Therefore, I am hesitant to read them. However, Mated with the Cyborg seemed interested and held promise. I was not disappointed.
While not a new plot, Mated with the Cyborg has a cast of appealing characters set inside an equally interesting world. Bristol creates a story balanced between action and romance. There is no lack of plot, but there was just as much heat. If you want some steam with your cyborg hero, this is definitely the story for you.
I was pleasantly surprised. This is the first story I have ever read from Bristol but it wont be the last. It isnt necessary to read the first in the series to enjoy this novel, I definitely want to pick it up after enjoying Mated so much.

Steppenwolf is great!
Action was great
Story was good
Horrendous special effects. Cyborg looks terrible. (1 more)
Dialogue was iffy
Was surprised by this one. It's good!
I have to admit. Most time I avoid reviews of movies, because quite frankly, they may affect my feelings towards a film. However, I heard only bad things about Justice League & was totally going to skip it, considering what I did hear about it & my disappointment with the recent string of superhero films. So, when a friend of mine said it was actually good, I gave it a shot. I'm happy I did.
The film is very good. Not great, but when put up against Wonder Woman, Black Panther & Superman v Batman, it shines.
The chemistry between the actors is great. They really come across as a team, unlike the Avengers. The new guys are great! Flash is funny, as he should be. Aquaman is a badass, because if he wasn't, he'd be boring "Superfriends" Aquaman. And Cyborg, well...Cyborg let's just say, is a great character & acted well, but special effects that bring his body to life aren't so...special. He looks out of place, like a cartoon put against a real background. When he moves his head, it floats around on his neck. It's not just one time, but every time. And the end battle takes place in a CGI town that looks worse than the first season of Beast Wars:Transformers.
But I can overlook that, because besides the flaws, we got a fun film to watch. And stay after the credits. You won't be disappointed.

Just want to say better movie than the version that came out at the cinema did it need to be 4 hours long probably not. nice to see characters like cyborg getting a chance to shine in this version than they would in the theatrical version. Overall a far superior version of a movie that delivers what the original couldn't

Fun!
This sci-fi action adventure turned out to be a great flick! Good acting with great cinematography/visuals and a well written story line. The really cool combination of CGI and live action made this a really fun story to watch. Interesting take on the future with the "battle" roller derby games and the cyborg usage. All you sci-fi fans will enjoy this movie. Worth a watch!

This was a great continuation of the story, however, I feel it suffered a bit from middle book syndrome - ie, where is purpose is to move the overall series plot forward, and so neglected to find its own internal arch. This resulted with a slightly unsatisfying feelings. This won't matter in the long run, as I'm still intrigued and captured by the series plotting, but as a stand alone it lacks a little bit of spark. Also, still no world building as to what causes Cyborgs to be reviled, though still not a deal breaker it would be nice if this was explained. Prejudices generally don't stem from pure revulsion. There's always some kind of warped logic or distortion of history. In my head canon it's that cyborg technology came about following the fourth world war, and the disgust at the horrors of that war, linked to all the now cyborg ex soldiers fueled the prejudice.

What to say... Erm... BORING!
I'm glad I didn't go to the cinema to see this. What on Earth were DC thinking?! Cyborg, Flash and Aquaman just seemed to be there as fill ins. There didn't seem to be any story for them. The CGI on Steppenwolf was an abomination, there didn't seem to be any real plot line that was being followed and the ending was rather anticlimactic...

I'll be back
Just watched at Cineworld all I can say still looks as good as it did 36 years ago even better when I first watched it on VHS the star of the movie without a doubt is Arnold Schwarzenegger in the role that will make him plus the special effects to create the cyborg by Stan Winston workshop Everything about this movie makes it a classic sci fi always worth a rewatch
