When it's time for Philla and Deminious to move on, they must choose their successors. Their daughter will be queen and they have 3 sons to choose from whom all have good qualities and would rule well. It's a hard choice but they make it. After the wedding, they ascend to the celestial plain. All is well; they are happy. What could possibly go wrong?
This is a good story and I did enjoy it. There just seemed to be a lot going on. There were sections where it was one part of the story, then the next paragraph was with somebody and something completely different, and it took a couple of sentences to catch up with what was happening. It was a bit of a shame as it did take away from the story as the flow that should have been there wasn't.
I did enjoy the story when I was able to decipher what was what and I would recommend it. You may just need some patience.

ClareR (5996 KP) rated Morgan is my Name in Books
Jul 5, 2023
Morgan le Fey is the daughter of the Lord that King Uther Pendragon vanquished. Uther then goes on to claim her mother, the Lady Igraine - and in the most underhand way possible with the help of the equally unpleasant Merlin.
Actually, the men don’t do well out of this retelling. Even the lover that a young Morgan takes, abandons her when she is found out and sent to a convent.
This book had me in its grip within minutes of pressing ‘play’. Vanessa Kirby’s narration was wonderful, and she made a convincing Morgan. She built on the book, making the reader/ listener really believe in the duality of Morgan. Not the evil woman we’ve been led to believe in (not in this first instalment, anyway!), but a young woman with a thirst for knowledge, who wants the freedom to pursue it. But it’s always the men who put a stop to her ambitions: whether it’s Uther, Merlin or her feckless husband (whatever happens to him, he deserves it!).
Oh, and the magic! Just the icing on the cake!
I can’t wait for the next book in this trilogy to come out!

Merissa (13382 KP) rated Nanny Negotiations (The Brotherhood: Legacy #1) in Books
Sep 5, 2023
This one is set in Contemporary London. Aubrey needs a live-in job. Heath needs a nanny for his daughter, Eugenie, but still wants his time with her. Aubrey manages to convince Heath that a live-in nanny is best and BOOM, we're off.
I loved all three of our main characters. Eugenie, in particular, was so reminiscent of my daughters when they were that age, that I couldn't help but fall in love with her. Aubrey and Heath were brilliant together once they started communicating.
The supporting characters did their jobs amazingly well, and I loved them all. Well, all apart from the ex, of course. She was a piece of work, alright, and I've known a few people who only looked out for themselves.
Steamy in places and yet easygoing, I thoroughly enjoyed this story and have no hesitation in recommending it.

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2434 KP) rated Death by Yule Log in Books
Dec 1, 2022
This story made me want to pick up the full length novels, not that I have yet. While I obviously didn't understand all the character history, I certainly got enough to fully enjoy what was happening here. The mystery was strong and kept me engaged until the end. As a bonus, there are recipes throughout, including one for a Yule Log cake.
NOTE: This story is a novella, roughly 100 pages, and was originally part of the novella collection Yule Log Murder. If you have that book, there is no need to buy this ebook. If you haven’t read the story, now is the time to sit back and enjoy this Christmas mystery.

Merissa (13382 KP) rated Embrace The Night (The Blood Rose #5) in Books
May 17, 2023
Now Hannah knows all about the Blood Rose phenomenon that is sweeping the Realms, after all, she is part of the group that has set up a communications network in the hopes of working around Margheta and still finding ways to talk to each other in emergencies. Hannah is not prepared to leave her bar though, for reasons that she will go into.
This is fast-paced, the same as all of the Blood Rose series, but full of information and action. With no grammatical or editing issues that I found, I can definitely recommend this book and the series. Can't wait for the next one.
