Original Horror
Before the death traps and gore of the Saw films we had this. Quite low budget and that went under the radar somewhat, but if you enjoy quirky Horror films with a puzzle element this is for you.

So the black death was actually a zombie plague! really?!? This is the kind of title that smaller publish houses can specialise in and as such will find its niche market of graphic novel lovers who will talk long into the night about the minutiae of the plot, unfortunately, that is not me,
Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2171 KP) rated The Dead Letter (Diagnosis Murder, #6) in Books

Dr. Sloan finds himself looking into the death of a shady PI. The characters are still strong and the plot is wonderfully twisty. Fan of the show or not, you'll like this book.

An exhibit on funeral art over the centuries leads Sweeney to a mystery from 25 years ago. Meanwhile, the museum's housekeeper is killed. A strong final (unfortunately) entry in the series.

Sigmund Brouwer takes his novelist eye to the familiar story of Jesus' death and resurrection. The result is powerful and gives us some new things to think about during the familiar week of Easter.

Alice (12 KP) rated Heir of Fire in Books
Jul 3, 2018
It took 400 pages for me to enjoy this book. The later 162 pages were filled with plenty of action, lots of death and some unfortunate happenings.
I liked Manon and the Thirteen and Rowan the most. They pretty much made this book for me as I felt it was all filler.

Dean (6925 KP) rated Open Graves (2009) in Movies
Aug 30, 2018 (Updated Aug 31, 2018)
A very average straight to DVD film about a board game that brings death to the losers but a wish to the winner. Quite a low budget which is shown in the quality of the cgi, not great acting either but the story is ok. Could have been done so much better though.

This book sucked eggs. Where's the continuity? It came out after Freshman Fury, but there's no mention of KC witnessing Brooks falling to his death, or Winnie's miscarriage.
It also has some insipid kidnapping plot and Lauren sucking up to her parents. Lame.
<2013> Nice ableism there, Sarah.
