Trudi (4 KP) rated Lost Light (Harry Bosch #9) in Books
Feb 8, 2018
This is a Harry Bosch story and as I've not read any of the others it is also a good stand alone book.
It keeps you interested in the actual story as well as encouraging you to buy the other Harry Bosch books to get his full backstory. I highly recommend reading it if you enjoy the detective/police genre as I do.

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2099 KP) rated Blood Matters (Roxanne Prescott, #2) in Books
Mar 9, 2018
When adoption guru Sam Brennan is found bludgeoned to death in his house, it starts San Diego Sheriff Department detective Roxanne Prescott on a trail of long hidden secrets. The plot was uneven and really seemed to slow down in second half.

Gisell Middleton (189 KP) rated The Late Show (Renée Ballard, #1; Harry Bosch Universe, #29) in Books
Jul 12, 2018
I loved Michael Connelly's new novel. Renee Ballard is an interesting, dynamic and multi-dimensional character who is likable and relatable. The Late Show is heavy in police jargon and procedure, much more than in Connelly's Bosch books but he does a great job of explaining without losing fluidity or storyline. I can't wait to see what comes next for Detective Ballard!

Great read
I usually struggle with reading Stephen king, maybe because they're always very paranormal. But I loved this, kind of a cross with a detective book with a paranormal twist. Which was perfect for me. I couldn't put it down, but limited myself each day so I could appreciate what I was reading a bit more.
Definitely worth a read.

I don't usually read children's books but this one was written by friends of a good friend of mine. And who wouldn't want to read a beautifully illustrated book about a mouse detective that is hunting for lost notes written by Mozart? TravelersWife4Life (31 KP) rated Collision of Lies (Amara Alvarez #1) in Books

I loved this book!
This was my first time reading a book by Tom Threadgill and I don’t understand how I have missed reading his books before now! Collision of Lies was such a well-crafted story, laid out in a way that kept me on the edge of my seat waiting to see what Detective Alvarez and her friends would do next. The plot was an interesting mix of intrigue, suspense, mystery, and a little romance (if you could call it that as it was a very minor detail). Detective Alvarez was a very vividly described character that I enjoyed getting to know; I think I would love to meet her in person. Tom Threadgill described Detective Alvarez’s thoughts and expressions in a way that was easy to follow and really pulled me in, the creative ideas she came up with about solving part of the mystery were thought-provoking. The side characters were also interesting people and I hope I get to know them better in the next book. Collision of Lies does have an actual ending and does not end on a cliff hanger. From the excerpt in the back of the book, we will get to see more of Detective Alverez and her colleagues in the next book as well.
I truly enjoyed this book and highly recommend reading it. I give it 5 out of 5 stars for the wonderful way in which Tom Threadgill pulls you into the story, the vivid character descriptions, and the great mystery. I cannot wait to read the next book in the series.
*I volunteered to read this book in return for my honest feedback. The thoughts and opinions expressed within are my own.

Ross (3282 KP) rated The Following - Season 1 in TV
Sep 5, 2017
Excellent, edge-of-the-seat thriller. The closest we'll come to 24 since the end of 24 (this includes the new 24).
Kevin Bacon is an excellent, flawed detective investigating the rise of cults. His nemesis is obsessed with Edgar Allan Poe and his followers wear creepy Poe-masks in their attacks, which are some of the creepier scenes in a non-horror TV show.
