A bit similar in terms of serial killer thrillers, check out any of the Alex Cross books or films by James Patterson. @Along Came a Spider (2001) is very good. @Cross my heart the book is a good first part of a two part story with @Hope to die.

I won this book from a Goodreads Giveaway and I ended up really liking it, I don't usually go for the detective-murder mysteries but this was a good read. I like the idea that it happens to also be a series, not sure if I'll continue to read about this detective but I liked this book.
