The story was definitely different from anything else I've ever read. There was so much anticipation over learning the secrets of Roanoke that the mystery of Allegra's disappearance was an afterthought most of the time. I especially enjoyed Lane and Cooper's relationship: how it began, the way it twisted and showed who they truly were, as well as their reunion. This book was a little twisted, but not overwhelmingly so.

Lawhon has done a stellar job in taking a mostly forgotten mystery and making it intriguing for modern day readers. As we follow how these three women were entangled in Crater's life and how Lawhon devises their connection to his disappearance, we also become entangled into their lives as well. Garden gnomes, Gnomeo & Juliet, recruit renowned detective Sherlock Gnomes to investigate the mysterious disappearance of other garden ornaments.

I really wasn't sure where I was going to fall on this one. It was fine, but predictable. Very predictable. It passed the time with some chuckles but nothing that really split my sides. I doubt this will be one I'll watch again. It's main benefit is that it isn't as bad as Duck Duck Goose.
