Absolutely dismal survival movie. There was so much wrong with this movie I really don't know where to start. I rate both Elba and Winslet highly and expected so much better! Let's start:-
1. The commercial airlines have cancelled all flights due to the storm, but the intelligent characters and an experienced pilot all decide they can fly through said storm in a much tinier light aircraft, plus the experienced pilot does not bother to file a flight plan! Doh.
2. Even with a broken? leg Winslet seems to easily get through the snow, as does the dog (I have taken my dogs through shallower snow than is on the film, they struggle to get through it, get tired super quick and have icicles stuck all over them).
3. Even though they are walking through snow they appear never to get wet. They seem to have perfectly dry and clean clothes and even shampooed hair.
4. It seems like they are up the mountain for days rather than weeks.
5. I didn't see the love story coming, they didn't seem to have much chemistry. Their connection was not believable.
6. Winslet falls through ice into the lake, she sinks and floats back up. Elba runs to the edge of said hole and manages to drag her out easily despite the weight of her and her clothes. The lake was seemingly firm other than that bit of hole!
7. There is a little house, complete with furniture and even a piano on the mountain but with no roads nearby, go figure? Maybe it flew there in a tornado from Kansas!
I could go on but you get the gist.

A fun Read
'Impression of A Dillemma' at first glance, looks as if it's going to be a crime based novel. However, it's much more than that.

This is a book which revolves around several diverse, quirky, but believable characters and their take on the same, shocking event. This book really gets into the minds of these characters and is very well written. I liked the almost poetic flow of the writing and the gentle humour.

In some novels which have multiple characters, in the end, they all become indistinguishable. However with this novel, everyone is completely different.

There was one character in particular, who at first, took some time for me to connect with. In reflection, I think this was good, because not many books include characters with such a quirky way of expressing themselves. So for this reason, I wouldn't say that this was a negative, but a change from having 'conventional' characters.

The pace of the novel was very good, at no point did it drag, I wanted to know what was going to happen next.

In fact, when I reached the end of the book, although I felt that it's ending was satisfactory, I couldn't help feeling like I wanted to know more about what the characters were going to do next. I'm not sure whether there will be any more books containing these characters or whether it's a stand alone novel, but I would be quite happy to read more about them, because they are so diverse and interesting.

I would definitely recommend this novel, if you like something quirky.

Scarlett Dragna has never left the tiny island where she and her sister, Tella, live with their powerful, and cruel, father. Now Scarlett’s father has arranged a marriage for her, and Scarlett thinks her dreams of seeing Caraval—the faraway, once-a-year performance where the audience participates in the show—are over.

But this year, Scarlett’s long-dreamt-of invitation finally arrives. With the help of a mysterious sailor, Tella whisks Scarlett away to the show. Only, as soon as they arrive, Tella is kidnapped by Caraval’s mastermind organizer, Legend. It turns out that this season’s Caraval revolves around Tella, and whoever finds her first is the winner.

Scarlett has been told that everything that happens during Caraval is only an elaborate performance. Nevertheless she becomes enmeshed in a game of love, heartbreak, and magic.

It was good!
Lots of twists and turns as Scarlett tries to find her sister in a world created by magic. After escaping her father Tally takes on a whole new persona to save both her and her sister from a life where they are beaten and tormented by a father that is pure evil. Scarletts search for Tally pairs her up with Julien who she falls for although promised to a count! Both her father and count track them down at the caraval in an attempt to drag them home so Scarlett can be married off to the count that's paid a lot of money for her!
Here Scarlett discovers the whole plot put into motion by her sister and the legend.
Looking forward to book 2!
