Um...
Well this twisted tale came out of left field and was surprisingly good. I found it under "horror" and I get why, but it's not exactly scary. It's almost like "Home Alone" on steroids. The acting was just ok(Kevin James as the bad guy was interesting). The character "Becky" would definitely fall under the definition of psychopath(the girl played the part well). This movie had plenty of gore for those of you who enjoy that sort of thing. It's not exactly "believable" but it was definitely entertaining. The effects were pretty good and the story kept the interest throughout. Not one for little kids, in my opinion. Otherwise, this one is worth a watch.

"Funky Forest. It’s a Japanese movie. It’s kind of like a patchwork film, kind of like Kuso is, in a way. I think it was heavily influential in just like, “OK well, it doesn’t all have to be … It can feel more like a short film, but in the same world, in an absurd world.” I think it was really, really inspiring for me. It had a lot of body comedy in that movie, a lot of really cool prosthetic effects that mixed with CGI, I think. It’s one of the movies where people will just be like, “What the f— is this? What is this?” And it’s not perfect movie, but it is, at times, perfect."

Kicking off with a genuinely iconic horror kill, Cube is a blast from the get go, albeit a slow burning one.

The whole film has a claustrophobic and intimate feel, with a minimalist set design and a small cast, who are all great by the way. The simple narrative is tantalizing and executed well, with some tense moments, decent plot twists, and the odd splash of sci-fi gore for good measure.

It's low budget, boasts some dodgy effects occasionally, and not at all groundbreaking or spectacular, but it has that 90s sci-fi/horror charm to it, and overall is a competent and entertaining thriller. One of those films that I could easily watch every couple of years.
