A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master (1988)
A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master (1988)

For me, ANOES 4-6 have always been a big step down to the pretty solid original trilogy. The Dream Master is of course the first of these three entries, and it's marred by sloppy writing, forced character development, and Freddy turning into a full blown one-liner machine, an aspect of the series that I know a lot of people love, but personally, I prefer Krueger when he's being a terrifying bastard.
It's not all bad though. The practical effects on show are pretty damn great, the kill sequences are imaginative, and I enjoy the commited narrative connections to Dream Warriors.
A far cry from the best in the series, but also, nowhere near the worst.

Side note, the bit where the dude sits up in his coffin and shouts "Helloooo Baaabbeehhh!" is dumb, but low key hilarious and I enjoy it every time.

Who ya gonna reboot?
Ghostbusters afterlife was announced with original director Jason reitman returning sending fans into a frenzy after the lackluster 2016 "reboot" ghostbusters: answer the call left viewers with a bad taste in their mouth and an empty ghost trap.

It's been 32 years since the apocalyptic events of the first movie and the original ghostbusters are all but completely forgotten.
After the death of egon, his estranged daughter and her children move into his home and try to settle in before pieces of the past start to uncover and an old threat is unleashed... So someone makes a call.

Fantastic visual effects, original soundtrack, a huge dose of nostalgia and a beautiful emotional scene that packs a punch that really kick things into gear.
This is a truly worthy sequel not to be missed and features cameos from the original cast.

First of all, I have to mention that Alien Outbreak looks good and I mean that with the colouring of the film, the colour pallet works very well in many scenes and it looks crisp, the use of lighting is also nicely used, particularly at night with the various shadow colours and effects for the torch-lit corridors, look out for a nicely shot scene while they are driving in a car and the burnt orange background stands out perfectly in the scene.

Now that’s out of the way, let’s get on to the film itself, many people really give indie made films a rough ride these days, but this is probably down to them comparing them with big Hollywood blockbusters, these types of movies like Alien Outbreak always have a certain look and feel to them and to me I find that very appealing in the extravagant blockbusters.

The House with a Clock in Its Walls (2018)
The House with a Clock in Its Walls (2018)

Imagine a movie that is like a cross between Harry Potter and Goosebumps and you have The House with the Clock in the Walls, sitting down to watch the film last night, I wasn’t overly sure of what to expect from the film, I have to say that I loved the trailer and it was the visuals in the trailer that sold it to me.

I have to say that I wasn’t disappointed with the film, it’s a film that is really aimed at the kids, no matter how big they are, the special effects in the film look brilliant and work well with the story, there are some moments that may scare the very young children such as a character coming back from the grave and the pumpkins that have a taste for flesh and spew out their sticky insides to trap their victims.
