Fantastic, twisty thriller with a heart
Felix Pink enters a home with one goal: to kindly keep a dying man company. But when he flees fifteen minutes later--more quickly than his seventy-five years usually allow--he's on the run from the police. Because Felix has made a mistake, and now his quiet life will never be the same.
"The [words] he needed finally dropped slowly from his numb lips. 'We killed the wrong man.'"
Oh my gosh, this book was amazing. Absolutely excellent. It has a different premise, keeps you guessing, and the characters are beyond superb. Bauer utterly captures Felix, with whom I fell completely in love. Yes, seventy-five-year-old widowed Felix is my new literary love. She also does an excellent job with Calvin, the young policeman who must investigate Felix Pink. These two men--along with the supporting cast--jump off the pages of this thriller. I was completely enthralled.
Even better, somehow this tale is witty despite it revolving around death. Felix has a superb sense of humor and the entire book is just infused with wit and a feeling of tenderness. It's also incredibly shocking, with a couple of plot twists that made me gasp. It's twisty and a total page turner. Rare do you get a mystery that is sweet yet exciting. But EXIT is just that.
Overall, this book is a total winner. Funny and heartwarming coupled with an excellent, intricate mystery plot that keeps you surprised at each turn. Highly recommend this one! 4.5 stars.

Oh my goodness ... that was riveting!
This is the 6th in this excellent series and although, ideally, it would be good to read them in order, this is not absolutely essential as this works as a standalone but you do miss the development of the characters and some back story relating to previous cases. However, please do not let this put you off starting the series with this one because you will so kick yourself for missing out on this excellent book and then you can go back and enjoy the rest!
This book has a strong and compelling story line BUT it's also dark and upsetting so be warned that there are some sections that are very difficult to read. The pace is perfect and I found myself racing through the chapters desperate to find out what was going to happen next. The characters are excellent and believable with DCI Darke being one of my favourite fictional characters - she is strong, sensitive, likeable, loyal but with flaws that make her sensitive and not above making mistakes; this makes her believable and plausible.
I have read some good books this year but this has got be amongst the top so far without a shadow of a doubt and I have to give a massive thank you to HarperCollinsUK / One More Chapter and NetGalley for my copy in return for an honest and unbiased review.
I cannot wait for the next one especially if that ending is anything to by!!

Survive The Zombies
After The Virus- is a excellent deck building zombie post apoclyptic game. Where you have to survive one of the 15 different missions. And how you survive is search the area deck, using your cards to different the zombies and the strategy is excellent. You have to think like 10 steps ahead cause if you get injured/bit in the head you lose. So strategy is a major key to winning this game.
Let me explain more:
The zombie apocalypse is here! After The Virus is a cooperative deck builder in which you and your friends band together to survive and complete different missions. The 15 included missions form a storyline if played in sequence, but don't expect to survive that easily because the zombies will attack you in ever increasing numbers!
Your deck is invaded by more zombies each time it is reshuffled, so you need to search the area deck for useful weapons and other things to help you. Some stuff can be added to your deck while others will stay in your play area, and still other things will be usable only once in the game. To manage your deck and play area well is critical if you are to complete the mission before you are overwhelmed by the zombies!
Like i said its a excellent deck building zombie game and its a must a play game.

Terrifyingly Good
This film is a classic. An excellent example of a sci-fi horror and probably Ridley Scott's best film. The Xenomorph is one of the scariest creatures in film today, everything about it is terrifying and paired with the tense confines of a spaceship, is the stuff of nightmares. There are some fantastic visual effects for the time, great cast performances and who doesn't love Jonesy the cat? One of my all time favourites.

Hilarious
I totally loved this book. I was entirely wrapped up in what would happen and hoping for the best. The story line was excellent following a man who is left for dead on Mars and what he has to do to survive until his crew could come back to get him. There were some absolutely hilarious moments and his reactions are exactly what you would expect...being left on a foreign planet. I highly recommend this book.

War is bad mmkay?
The idea behind The Heroes was good, the battle between the supposedly savage Northmen and the civilised, yet incompetent imperial troops. Abercrombie can sure write an excellent battle scene, and some superbly crafted characters, on both sides.
Altogether though I felt this book a little dragged out, and the whole "war is pointless" message a little forced home.
Of the 3 follow-on books from the main trilogy this is my least favourite.

Awesome
Never been a fan of Aquaman, he lives in the water... What can he do? Turns out, quite a lot. After seeing him in Justice League, I have been looking forward to seeing the Aquaman movie. I wasn't disappointed. It's Jason Mamoa and he owns the character. Nicole Kidman as his mum..... Plenty of action and a excellent storyline. The music and special effects are very reminiscent of TRON. I really enjoyed it.
