Titus Andromedon - literally my favourite character (1 more)
John Hamm is such a good villain
Slightly ridiculous, over the top comedy
While this series is rather funny and watchable, there are times it's utterly cringe-worthy and I really did not like how the court scenes were handled. It's an incredibly dark topic, which writer Tina Fey does an almost excellent job of hilarity, but it falls short because it should never have been done given the horrible spate of male violence against women, and women being held against their will.

For me this marked the end of the first part of the series, as a lot of loose ends are tied up and this could have ended the series as a whole.
There are a number of conclusive battles/conflicts and the interaction between Tisamaon and Felise leads to some excellent scenes.
The thrilling conclusion puts an end to the Wasps' onslaught across the lowlands and sets up the next set of books to follow.
There is a definite downturn in quality from this point onwards, but it does improve again later.

Good young cast
Very funny
You'll float too
Shockingly I've not read the book but do remember the '90 version shown on TV. Some parts are true to the original and there is a lot of new stuff as well. There does seem to be nods to other Stephen King works as well, like Carrie and Stand by me which is a nice touch for fans.
The young cast are excellent and Pennywise genuinely creepy. I wouldn't say it's scary but does have a creepy atmosphere and surprisingly very funny!

This was an excellent read! I loved the characters and the different perspectives we got the story from, not only the main characters but the supporting ones as well. I loved how the story showed how much of a difference one person can make in someone's life and how one choice can change the course of that person's life completely. Daniel and Natasha made me believe in true love and fate they made me feel like anything is possible which I think is the mark of a really good story.

Erika (17789 KP) rated Beirut (2018) in Movies

So, this was billed as a 'taut political thriller'; I'm not sure about that. Maybe it's because I was comparing it to 7 Days in Entebbe the entire time.
Anyway, Jon Hamm plays Don Draper, sorry, I mean, Mason Skiles, who's an alcoholic (see, Don Draper), and is brought back to Beirut after a former friend is kidnapped.
It was a little predictable, I basically figured out the plot in the first 10 minutes, and I'm sure a non movie buff could do the same. It wasn't excellent, it was just good.

Jessica Cashen (1 KP) rated The Bone Curse (Benjamin Oris, #1) in Books

Excellent read. Well written, with a great plot and characters. I was engrossed from start to finish. I couldn't put it down. This book is a supernatural suspenseful thriller. Ben Oris is a sensible, medical student until he cuts his hand on a old bone in the catacombs of Paris. The cut becomes a horrible wound that leads him into a world of Voodoo curses that threatens everything he knows and loves. He doesn't have to do this alone, he has his best friend Laurette to help him through this nightmare.
A fun way to spend 2 hours.
Overall it’s a solid horror film. Not a game changer in the artistic sense, but it’s high box office grosses will open the door for more big-budget R-rated horror, so for that alone it get so a six. Extra point for never losing my attention. I had a good time overall. Not blown away, but not disappointed. Exactly what I expected.

Excellent game
This game is incredibly fun. The basic concept is something like a cross between the movie Frequency and Stranger Things with a fun synth score. A group of teens end up on a haunted island in a series of time loops and have to use radios to communicate with the ghosts and break free. It's an easy way to lose a few hours, and then play all over again with a few surprises. This is among my top IOS games for sure.

Bordering on very good and excellent. Started watching it and thought it would be similar to Girl on a Train but how wrong I was, can't really talk about the film without giving too much away but there are plenty of twists and different tangents going on. The film has been narrated as if it was a true story with a voice over at the beginning and what happened next at the end, haven't read the book but don't think it is is true. One final thing always look out for the quiet ones.

The storyline was well written, though the fact that the kids were aware of the financial issues is a big no for me. The kids experiencing the magic and the adults not believing them is a bit overdone as well. The family experience is very relatable. The magic the kids experienced was not overdone and was excellently planned. I never saw the original, but this movie was excellent.
