Leanne Crabtree (480 KP) rated The Shadow Reader (The Shadow Reader, #1) in Books
Oct 1, 2019
This starts with McKenzie doing in a test in a lecture hall at Uni, only she's interrupted mid test by her friend and love interest, Kyol--sword-master of the current Fae King. The rebels have found her and she's in danger. They run from the room but get attacked by the rebels as they try to escape. In the end, McKenzie fall into the rebels trap and ends up their captive. McKenzie keeps attempting to escape and though half of the rebels want her dead, the leader, Aren, wants her kept alive.
What follows is a complicated twisty tale of right and wrong, of realising that what you thought was the truth for so long has been twisted and put in a new light so you'll go along with it. Truths are revealed that you agree with.
There is an element of love-triangle going on in this. She's had a "thing" with Kyol for ten years: touches and kisses that are prohibited under the King's ruling of no relationships between humans and Fae. And then there's Aren. The rebel leader who steals her away and tries to convince her that the Court is using her for their own gains and not for the good of the people.
In truth I think I was more Team Aren. We got to see more of his relationship progression with McKenzie. They go from not trusting or liking each other particularly to that tender, sweet touches, stage of falling for each other. Don't get me wrong, I like Kyol. But I think because we missed the start of their relationship growth all those years ago that I don't feel as strong of a connection between them.
By the end of this I was urging our group to win the fight. And now I'm very interested in what's going to happen next with this ragtag group.

CONSORT is the first book of two in the Noble Reckoning Duology and, boy, what it a good start!
Durin is a young fae - not noble and thankful for that small mercy. When he sees a noble fae mercilessly bully and kill a young shifter, he is enraged and works hard to hone his magic into a weapon, determined to enact vengeance on the shifter's behalf. He fulfils his vow but is made to pay in ways he never imagined.
During this time, Rue is trying to hide the fact she has just presented as an Omega. In her pack, that means she will be Alpha Mate and passed around for all the alpha's to share. Funnily enough, that's not a future she wants. So she does the unthinkable. She runs away, and her mother goes with her. They find a place to hide and life seems good.
Fate throws Durin and Rue together and he helps her through her heat, resulting in a pregnancy with Vaegon. If the name sounds familiar then check out Rachel Grey's Unnatural series and you'll find out why. Of course, life isn't easy and neither of them is in an ideal place, so prepare yourself for the cliffhanger because it's a doozy!!!
It isn't all about Rue and Durin though. There's a whole mystery in here too, with the Queen and her wicked ways. The world-building is phenomenal to get everything in and not leave you wanting.
This was a fantastic story that had me hooked from the first page. I really felt for both Rue and Durin and can't wait to see what happens next. Simply wonderful and HIGHLY RECOMMENDED by me.

Samantha (67 KP) rated Heir of Fire in Books

Rowan and Manon are new, interesting and valuable characters to this series (2 more)
Celaena's/ Elentiya's/ Aelin's development as a Fae and in trusting those around her
Further insight is provided in relation to Celaena's/ Elentiya's/ Aelin's past and the influence of these occurances
What should we be calling her?
This story was a brilliant addition to the 'Throne of Glass' series, showing immense growth in the main character whilst also introducing new characters and story lines to the mix. I found that it took a while to get into Manon's story line, although once I did it was a valuable addition to the story. The story line surrounding Chaol and Dorian seemed cloudy and trivial for a fair amount of the novel although still had its merits in relation to the story as a whole. Overall, the combination of story lines allowed for a story that provided constant engagement and intrigue throughout the novel.
Merissa (13585 KP) rated The Bend-Bite-Shift Box Set in Books
Dec 17, 2018
First of all, this box set is an absolute bargain. Not only do you get three full-length novels but you also get two novellas as well.
The plot is well written and well paced. The characters all have depth and oomph to them, and more than one has a hint of mystery to them. The story has one main theme which runs through all five books but then each book has it's own, more detailed story. There is enough going on that is a series that could go on for a few more books at least. I'm really hoping it does! +Olivia Hardin has written some more in the "For Love of Fae" trilogy which will have at least some characters that we have already met.
If you want Paranormal Romance with some action and mystery, with powers to 'bend' your mind at an incredible value for money price, then check out the Bend-Bite-Shift Box Set.

Fantastic
An absolutly gripping story from start to finish!
Jinji the wunderlust has been wondering from place to place telling tales of lost prince's and fae. This is until he is arrested by a solider called Yeston and taken to Queen Bareene of Amantier who plans to make these fairy tales stop, however nothing goes to her plan!
I thoroughly enjoyed this story I was gripped from when I first started, the description of jinji to start with is peculiar but as the story goes on you find yourself warming to him more and more as well as some of the other charecters. This friendships that grow the fellowships that form the hardships that have been faced have had me awestruck I have loved it from the first page to the last. Perhaps M.H. Woodscourt is a storyweaver themselves
I will deffinatly recommend this book to be read. An epic fantasy adventure

Accacias Blood ( Sisters of Hex book 2)
By Bea Paige
Once read a review will be written via Smashbomb and link posted in comments
After saving Rhain from an agonising death, Accacia is determined to find her missing friend Clover and rescue her from the mysterious Fae. With the assistance of her vampire knights, the group head into the forbidden forest of Ever Vale and into a world of mystery and magic.Drawn deeper into the depths of the wood, Accacia learns what it is to have courage, to fight for the ones you love and to know when to let them go.
It’s an easy read and an easy to follow story. I did prefer the 1st book to this one I’m hoping they pick up a little. I’m glad we finally get Ezra to stop being all moody and self involved. Devin had to be my favourite and he’s just gone dark so the next book should be better for me.
