As a fan of Alex Flinn's fairytale re-tellings, especially Beastly, I was anticipating this novel greatly. It was a unique take on the Snow White tale's Queen, Huntsman, Prince and happily ever after. As the story of Snow White is pretty well known, there's not much I can say without giving away how this re-telling decided to approach the story. Definitely recommended for those who enjoy fairy tales and happily ever afters.

The third book in the Sisters Grimm series finds Sabrina and Daphne hot on the trail of their kidnapped parents and meeting an uncle everyone in town seems to have forgotten. Once again, the creativity of incorporating the fairy tale characters was wonderful. The book grabbed me from page one and didn't let me go.

Very good book, makes you want to keep on reading, quite atmospheric and draws the reader into the storyline. The author is also good in making the twist at the end unexpected, although you have an inkling something else is going on and the story starts to go in that direction, the actual culprit is not suspected until the end. If you like old fashioned fairy stories then this is a book for you.

"I would say Peau d’âne, by Jacques Demy, a French musical with Catherine Deneuve, because I fell in love with Catherine Deneuve. I was so impressed. I think that, because I watched her being a princess in that movie, that I wanted to be an actress. She was so amazing, and I love Jacques Demy movies. It’s like a real beautiful fairy tale and, I just watch that movie again and again."

"The two supreme works of childhood/horror. Lamentations of worlds lost and the innocents trapped in them. Sublime fairy tales of despair that depict the adult world as a toxic environment for kids to exist in. Secret treasures kept in the hearts of children must be safeguarded from the corruption of an adult world full of certainty and arrogance. Both films are so beautiful and so dark—they truly make me weep in awe."
