this is the last book in the set, I enjoyed this book, the characters are very strong and well written. the romance between the characters is not a fairy tale one but this only adds to the story line. the story moves at a good pace which keeps you engaged throughout. some of the steamy scenes are incredibly hot.
highly recommended

Oh My God! What a story! I loved it; how you saw they're relationship develop and Camryn's confidence grow. It was an amazing story and recommend it to others.

!!Spoiler Alert!!

That last twelve % was hard to read through my tears, i'm just glad it all worked out in the end considering and as Natalie said "it would be a cruel fairy-tale" if it hadnt worked out.

Fanny and Alexander (1982)
Fanny and Alexander (1982)
1982 | Drama, International

"Existential angst, black-and-white landscapes that feel cut out of slate and bone, quivering ruminations on mortality, and symbolic self-reflexive experimentation in film form-that’s all very masterful and inspiring and well and good, but I didn’t fall in love with Bergman until I discovered (via this box set) Fanny and Alexander. A rich adult fairy tale about how we use storytelling in our lives, not for pleasure alone."

Classic Childs tale

Lyra is a orphan growing up with a group of boring scholars. She has an incredible imagination and would drop anything to do in an adventure with her best pal Roger.

However Roger is kidnapped and taken north by the gobblers. Lyra, being the strong independent young woman she is, is determined to get him back.

This classic story has everything to get your imagination going. There are kidnappings, witches, daemons, armoured bears, hot air balloon trips and a machine that can tell the truth.

Totally worth a read

Great storyline if you enjoy a fantasy. (1 more)
Well written
I couldn't put this one down!
I picked this book up on a whim in an esoteric book shop, and read it cover to cover in one evening! I loved the story - a little far fetched fantasy, but to all intents and purposes, doesn't everyone like to disappear into a book and lose themselves?! It appealed to my inner child and fairy tale lover!

Excellent adaptation from the original
As a young child, I obsessively watched the Animated movie. Growing up, I have read every adaptation I could get my hands on. This movie did a splendid job of translating the animated film to live action. The development between Belle and the Beast was slower in this version which I loved. Overall, I highly recommend this movie to anyone who enjoys this fairy tale.

The third book in the Sisters Grimm series finds Sabrina and Daphne hot on the trail of their kidnapped parents and meeting an uncle everyone in town seems to have forgotten. Once again, the creativity of incorporating the fairy tale characters was wonderful. The book grabbed me from page one and didn't let me go.

Movie Favorite

"I would say Peau d’âne, by Jacques Demy, a French musical with Catherine Deneuve, because I fell in love with Catherine Deneuve. I was so impressed. I think that, because I watched her being a princess in that movie, that I wanted to be an actress. She was so amazing, and I love Jacques Demy movies. It’s like a real beautiful fairy tale and, I just watch that movie again and again."

I was given Between the Lines by Jodi Picoult & Samantha Van Leer by the PR company in England who is promoting it in exchange for an honest review.

The book is written by the best selling author Jodi Picoult and her teenage daughter Samantha Van Leer. The idea for this book was actually Van Leer's, and what a fantastic idea it was!

What happens after you close a book? What happens to the characters in the book? What if they actually had their own lives which went on after a book was closed?

Oliver is a character in a children's fairy tale. However, he wonders if there's something more out there. He wants to escape into the Otherworld which is the reader's world. He is sick of being stuck in a fairy tale doing the same things over and over with the same people.

Delilah is a 15 year old girl who just doesn't fit in. She daydreams about falling in love with her prince charming. However, her prince charming is a character in a children's fairy tale.

To sum up the plot, Delilah and Oliver try to find a way to get Oliver out of his fairy tale book. You are shown the struggles of which they try to do this. Will Delilah ever get to be with her prince?

I loved this book. Everything about it was great. The plot was well thought out and very original. I actually felt like I was part of the story. What also makes it great is it kind of feels like you are getting two stories for the price of one. The reader is told the actual fairy tale for the most part as well as the actual story.

The actual story is told from Oliver and Delilah's point of view which I love! That way you can get how each character is feeling.

Also, the other character is this book are very well thought out and say some amazing things! My favourite supporting character was the trusty steed Socks. He was always worrying about how he looked and would come out with some funny lines!

One other thing I enjoyed about this book was the illustrations. They are beautifully drawn, and I believe it makes this book that much more interesting.

If you are looking for something a bit different to read, don't pass up this book. It is amazing, and you won't be disappointed.

I give it a 5 out of 5.

I received this book as a first reads copy via GoodReads and My Kinda Book.

I'll start by saying I love the cover of this book.

Then: I'm a big Jana Oliver fan, having loved her Demon Trappers series so when I saw the First Reads giveaway on Goodreads for this I just had to enter and luckily for me, I was picked as one of the winners.

I have to admit that I, too have always liked the idea of Princes and Princess' and fairy tale endings and this was a unique take on it, with the twisted fairy tale one that is almost of Briar Rose's own making.

I kinda wish I could say more but I don't want to ruin it for those who are going to read this...sorry ;D

Saying that, it was very unique to me, as I have never seen or heard of anything like this before, and I really enjoyed it. Maybe it was the authors style which I can easily fall into or maybe it was the idea of the story but I was captivated by it from early on.

I also really liked all the major characters though it took a while for Pat to grow on me. The rest; Briar, Joshua, Reena and Ruric were all pretty cool from the start.

If you're a fan of the author then you should give this a try, as well as those who like fantasy books as this is no ordinary fairy tale.
