Amazing storyline and character development (0 more)
Alexia oh how I love thee
Alexia is a true heroine and independant woman! I love her sense of adventure and fashion. She is spunky, sassy and intelligent showing that u dont have to be in the cookie cutter mold to be attractive to a guy like Lord Maccon. They are such a good pair together and compliment each other great. The character development Ms. Carriger gives to each and every character even down to the kind of shoes they had on, or sometimes lack there of is extraordinary. This new story line of the super-natural is superb.

Killer soundtrack to a great classic film
An amazing soundtrack that you can not help but sing and dance along too.
As a 40something I grew up with this film and the soundtrack was such a feature So much so it has a permanent place in my car for road trips.
I missed out on the time period when the film was set but because of the music I have such an affinity for the time and have become a huge fan of the music and fashion.
10 out of 10 would recommend the soundtrack and the film.

The Silent Patient

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The Silent Patient is a shocking psychological thriller of a woman’s act of violence against her husband—and of the therapist obsessed with uncovering her motive.

Alicia Berenson’s life is seemingly perfect. A famous painter married to an in-demand fashion photographer, she lives in a grand house with big windows overlooking a park in one of London’s most desirable areas. One evening her husband Gabriel returns home late from a fashion shoot, and Alicia shoots him five times in the face, and then never speaks another word.

Alicia’s refusal to talk, or give any kind of explanation, turns a domestic tragedy into something far grander, a mystery that captures the public imagination and casts Alicia into notoriety. The price of her art skyrockets, and she, the silent patient, is hidden away from the tabloids and spotlight at the Grove, a secure forensic unit in North London.

Theo Faber is a criminal psychotherapist who has waited a long time for the opportunity to work with Alicia. His determination to get her to talk and unravel the mystery of why she shot her husband takes him down a twisting path into his own motivations—a search for the truth that threatens to consume him....

This was so so good!! It kept you completely sucked and and that ending was a WTF moment for me I did not see that coming at all! Brilliant!

Well it took me awhile to really get into this book. I was 4 or 5 chapters in before I was hooked, so to speak. Once the story really got rolling though I couldn't put it down. This book tells the story of 1 dog who passes several times & is constantly coming back as other dogs. He returns because he is trying to find his purpose. I'm happy to say that at the end of the book, he does just this...in heartbreaking fashion.
I found myself laughing at times & crying my eyes out at others. I definitely looked at my dog & gave him some extra attention as I read. This was a great book!

"She's a later discovery. She's still alive – an amazing, iconic Italian pop singer from the late 1960s through the 70s and 80s, whom I discovered when I was dating a very handsome Italian man in Rome, driving around on the back of a scooter and listening to her recordings. I always identify her as the Bette Midler of Italy, she had a very similar fashion and look, this crazy curly red hair and amazing make-up. She also had this wild voice, and there's this glamorous European quality to her that she brings me right to when I need to get there, especially living in the United States. Mina, take me away!"

"I was 10 years old and I didn’t listen to rock ‘n’ roll. I was at a friend’s house and we were playing Warhammer, because I’m cool, and his older brother had an Iron Maiden poster and I thought it was very cool. It grabbed me and I didn’t realise it was for a band. I mentioned it to my parents and about a week later my dad brought me a copy of Killers on cassette from the Our Price at Waterloo Station. I can still remember hearing the opening track. It was like a switch flipping in my head. It was immediately apparent that this was my thing. Rock ‘n’ roll arrived very suddenly and forcefully in my life. One of the things I love about Maiden still, is that they are resolutely impervious to fashion. They’re just Maiden, they have always been Maiden and they don’t give a f*** You can take a lot of my records away from me, but I’ve got a lot of collector’s edition boxsets of Maiden and I would fight for them harder than most things in my possession. One of the things I love about Maiden still is that they are resolutely impervious to fashion. They’re just Maiden, they have always been Maiden and they don’t give a fuck. There’s something punk about that. They weren’t cool in 1980, they weren’t cool in 1990, they weren’t cool in 2000 and they weren’t cool in 2010, but they still go about what they do selling out arenas all over the world."

Scrappy Little Nobody is a cute, relatable celebrity book. Anna Kendrick charms you with her unique perspective and opens up in ways she hasn't before. The book is not generally funny, nor do I believe it's meant to be, but it has its moments and stories that make you laugh. She is definitely a more normal celebrity who shares some of her confusion about the industry, fashion, and events. You realize its nor all glitz and glamour, but these are real people with emotions, problems and they get just as overwhelmed and pleased as we would if we were receiving an award. It's not the best celebrity book I've read, but it was enjoyable and I recommend it if you're a fan of hers.

Interesting but familiar
While there were familiar elements to this psychological thriller with the unreliable narrator and presence of male violence, there were some good twists to make it equally listenable.

Following the story of psychologist Dr Anna Fox, it shows how agoraphobia has taken over her life, not before she witnesses something horrific in pure Hitchcock fashion. Her new neighbours, the Russells, appear to be hiding a secret which she catches while spying with her camera from across the window.

With that said, there are some classic thrillers built into the book such as Vertigo, Rear Window, and Wait Until Dark. And the main character happens to be a fan of these films as well. Good, but nothing completely new.

I LOVED this book! My favorite aspects of women's fiction are all here: NYC, fashion, friendship, art, glitz and glamour, food, humor...all combined with a bit of a mystery and a writing style that brings you right in and doesn't let you go. I didn't want this book to end. I was honestly quite surprised at how well written it was, I was expecting fluff considering the author is a former Real Housewife of New York but there were several times this book forced some deep thinking and had me pondering on love vs desire and choices we make. I'm looking forward to reading more from this author. Highly recommended! Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC
