Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2466 KP) rated Eighth Shepherd (A.D. Chronicles, #8) in Books
Mar 9, 2018
The slow march toward the crucifixion continues as we get the story of tax collector Zachai of Jericho. While this historical fiction series has been more hit and miss than normal for the Thoenes, I got emotionally drawn into this volume even though I knew the ultimate outcome.

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2466 KP) rated Tenth Stone (A.D. Chronicles, #10) in Books
Mar 9, 2018
The Thoene's bring back characters from earlier books to retell the story of the Prodigal Son. However, they turn their historical fiction into fantasy and kill the climax of what should have been a powerful book. I'm debating whether I will continue to read them or not.

Isnt fiction such an amazing thing? That you can read a 10 page piece of writing that draws you in and chills you to the bone
incredible.
This one is instantly unsettling, and maybe its not the most unpredictable ending in the world, but its done in such an amazing way that youll feel the goosebumps rise on your arms.
An excellent little horror story.

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2466 KP) rated The Last Musketeer (The Last Musketeer, #1) in Books
Mar 9, 2018
Greg Rich finds himself sucked back through time to early 1600's Paris where he must unite teenage musketeers to save his parents. A kids book that combines elements of fantasy with historical fiction, I enjoyed it, although I did find the set up a bit too long.

Anna Steele (111 KP) rated History Is All You Left Me in Books

History isn’t everything
Adam Silvera is a really good author if you want a YA gay realistic fiction with a twist.
In this heartbreaking endeavor, the twist is that our main character is addressing the entire novel to his dead first love, using “you” throughout the “Today” sections to speak directly to him. Silvera plays with time and pieces together the mystery of Theo and Griff’s past beautifully.

In continuation of the first book, William Laurence and Temeraire will have to deal with the fall out of China finding out that Laurence has stolen Temeraire from Napoleon. They travel to China hoping they can stay together.
Laurence has way more patience then most although his temper is something to behold. the descriptions of the voyage and China are gorgeous in this wonderful alt history fiction.

Not your usual Atwood story
Compared to other Atwood stories the heart goes last takes a different look on modern relationships while also addressing an odd storyline aha, not your usual dystopian fiction but does still have Atwood traits. I found it funny at times and it does stick out, I do usually recommend this book if anyone asks!

This series is so good. I am a big sci-fi fan and this has all the things that are great about science fiction. I love the book series that the show is based on and the show does a fantastic job of staying as true to the books as possible. I just finished season 4 and it is amazing in the storytelling and the cast is fantastic.
