I actually really liked this documentary series. But, I'm always interested in fraud, it's my job. Each episode features a different fraud scheme, all of which are pretty interesting.

I am honestly obsessed with movies/docuseries about fraud in general. Short-selling is a crazy notion to me. The Chinese companies in this series didn't really do a good job of trying to hide their fraud.
It was interesting, but it didn't really hold my attention all that well.

"Its bathroom-reading title belies this astonishing, hilarious analysis of reading, memory, shame and the everyday fraud of shared experience — the illusion of consensus that is the glue of our conversational social contract. Written by a drolly self-effacing French professor of literature."

Over the last couple of months, Kinsey has become friends with Parnell, an investigator at California Fidelity. So, she is shocked when Parnell is shot in the parking lot. With no leads, the case begins to fade, and even Kinsey is given a new case to investigate Bibianna for potential insurance fraud. Her plan is to get close to Bibianna and confirm the fraud, but Bibianna has secrets that complicate Kinsey’s plans. What will happen next?

This book starts well with an interesting first half, but then the second half really bogs down. The climax is almost anti-climactic in fact, and a huge change to Kinsey’s life is dashed off in a sentence. Furthermore, insurance fraud is the focus more than the homicide, which is disappointing for the “H” entry in the series. It’s not a bad book, but it’s definitely the weakest in the series to date.

Ok
A rather too complex story which begins as a double murder investigation but ends up more about a fraud involving some psychologists. It was alright but at 497 pages it's a book that could have been shortened by at least 100 pages and would have turned out punchier and better to read.

No, this film is not a masterpiece in film-making. But, it's one of my favorite movies.
First, the first scenes of this film where Larry (Andrew McCarthy) brushes off the mugger in Central Park, since makes me smile.
The story-line is very 1980s, fraud/embezzlement in a corporate atmosphere. The physical comedy by Terry Kiser was exactly what was needed. Who thought toting a dead body around could be so amusing?

I have an interest in the paranormal and people's supposed psychic abilities so I enjoyed this film. However it absolutely failed to reach its potential and the twist at the end which could have been mind-bending was rather a damp squib. On a side note, if the subject interests you, I once watched a Storyville documentary on Uri Geller where he was proven to be a fraud (not that that stalled his career at all) but that is definitely worth a watch!
