Whitney K. Crowe (0 KP) rated To All The Boys I've Loved Before (2018) in Movies

Light hearted (1 more)
Funny
I saw this movie on Netflix and within the first few minutes I was in love with the story and of course, Peter Kavinsky. It was like the perfect teen romance novel. To my delight, it was! A trilogy dedicated to the love story of Lara Jean and Peter. After reading the books, I feared I wouldn’t love the movie anymore. That’s not the case though. The movie was true to the quirkiness of the book. I will find pleasure in both rereading the book series and rewatching the movie!

Fun Movie
This was a really good movie. Venom had some funny lines, and overall was surprisingly likeable. I'm curious as to how they will portray Venom later on since he was a villan in the comics, but in the movie he is depicted as an anti hero. This was a great introduction to a character I think we will see a lot of in the future. Venom is not part of the overall MCU so movies like this make great place holders while waiting on Avengers films.

Yoshi (40 KP) rated Megatokyo, Volume 3 in Books
Oct 29, 2018
Megatokyo is by far my favorite webcomic. I cannot tell you how many times it has made me cry after spending about 5 minutes laughing my head off because it is that funny. Although you can read it on line for free, it is better to read it in book form if you can find it because it flows more easily that way. In my opinion this is probably the volume where the story starts getting really good, and the writer's art style has improved from the first book.

Snore factor 8
Took my boy to this and was feeling family optimistic due to the previews. However the only good stuff was in the previews. The movie feels long and drawn out. I ate my delicious pop corn and gallon of Pepsi and promptly feel asleep like a 40 year old man baby. It did however hold my 8 year old sons attention, so there is that. Snore factor 8 came into play after the first quarter of the movie

A Good Mix
This movie was a great mix of funny and serious. Maya was an awesome character that you really wanted to see succeed even if she didn't go about it in a traditional way. For me the thing that really made this movie great were Maya's friends. All of them were hilarious, and it was nice to see such a strong group. They did a great job of mixing serious moments in without making this movie to heavy. I would highly suggest this if you are looking for something fun to watch.

SquidGirl (13 KP) rated Sourcery: Discworld: The Unseen University Collection in Books
Dec 12, 2018
So I usually really like reading Discworld books and I usually love Rincewind stories, but this book was a bit of a bust, I struggled to read it because it was, for me, really slow paced. I really like Conina, she was an excellent character and of course I liked the Luggage, cause who doesn't?
The other two characters I wasn't very keen on, they kind of bored me. Coin was a really good character and the ending was amazing with Rincewind being brave for once!

David McK (3562 KP) rated Orcs (Orcs: First Blood, #1-3) in Books
Jan 30, 2019
Takes an interesting perspective on the good old fantasy troupe of the Orcs, telling the tale from their perspective rather than having them as the antagonists. All three novels (and the short story), however, are pretty linear in the telling: battle here, move on a bit, battle here, move on a bit, skirmish here, despite the somewhat tacked on religious sub-plot.
In short, a simple, undemanding read, but not as effective (or as funny) as Mary Gentle's "Grunts", which also tells the story from the point of view of the Orcs.

Situations we have all found ourselves in when we were young (1 more)
It's laugh out loud funny
Relatable and hilarious
I was a teenager when this first came out and absolutely loved it, still do now. It's actually quite relatable, the problems the girls face are things im sure everyone has some kind of experience with.
The girls in this act really well and the way it's written is fab - it doesn't drag, theres no unnecessary veer offs.
All my girl friends love this, I'm sure you will too, give it a go!

Jul 15, 2019
Dave bautista (3 more)
Kumail nanjiani
Natalie Morales
Karen Gillan
Just seen not the funniest movie I've seen this year but I did find it funny. Basically dave bautista plays the entire movie blind and kumali nanjiani plays his uber driver with disastrous results iko uwais plays the villian in my opinion underused brilliant in the raid movies but here not so much. The rest of the cast we're good even Karen Gillan who's only in the first five minutes of the movie. Would I watch again probably on DVD or blu ray
