Grim, not for kids!
My first reaction was how can they call this a teen movie? It's so graphically brutal, from harvesting young people, to zombies, this should definitely not be geared towards a younger audience.

There are certain similarities with the Hunger Games series, with the younger generation in the future, seen as expendable. And unlike the first, where there was more action, this starts opening itself to a larger cast and more developed plot. As with any trilogy, the middle tends to be an explainer for the first and set up for the third film. Is it the best of movies? Probably not, given that HG was far better, but it's not bad.

I don't think I have the stomach for it! How are they?

As with most, I think the books are better than the films. The second film is very different though from the book. If you enjoyed the films then I'd definitely say read the books!

[Metal Flesh (The After Eden Series: Tek-Fall, Episode I] by [Austin Dragon] was an interesting view of the future. Sprocket is an atheist who's father was killed by a mysterious hit man. The world is dominated by tek. He is trying to find the only person who can help him, Goth Lila. Will he be able to handle what he finds out?

The characters were very good. I also likes how the story was broken up not only in chapters but time and place within the chapters. The story did seem to jump around a little but perhaps because I have not read the other books by [Dragon] yet. I plan to do just that.

Great Sci-Fi film
A pretty good film, a sort of space disaster/thriller film as a crew set off for the Sun to drop a nuclear payload to kickstart it back to life and get Earth out of an Ice age. They are the 2nd team to set off, will they make it or suffer the fate off the 1st missing crew?
It has some good acting and SFX, the sets for the spaceship look very impressive and show some good ideas about the future of space travel. It's a bit slow to start but it makes up for this as things get more dramatic towards the end. Better than I expected it to be.

I loved this movie, but I thought the ending was stupid and kind of a cop out.

True but I like some of the ideas it has about space travel. Sets were impressive.

Are you hungry?
My nearly 5-year-old was so excited when I showed her the advanced review copy of this title and immediately settled down to read it to the family. This is a lovely little story, much like many of Julia Donaldson's other titles which engage the young mind. Well illustrated to give non-readers something to engage their interest but with language that is accessible to younger readers also, the rhyming line endings engage their mind and enjoyment.
I would definitely recommend this to a Julia Donaldson fan and for Nursery and Primary Schools as well as local libraries. This is a classic of the future.

Yet another book I waited so long for that ended up not being all that great. Ian Mortimer is a historian, so when I saw he was writing a novel, I was intrigued.
Well, the result was just ok. Two brothers end up catching the plague and get to live their last 6 days, 99 years in the future each day. The novel normally focuses on the changing customs, clothing, and it's deeply focused on religion. It was alright with me, but it's probably not what people thought they'd be getting into while reading this. I would deem this whole book as a sort of religious mediation. Overall, just kind of meh and a let down for me.
