A good, solid, Gothic page-turner. Not quite as atmospheric as I would like, I feel it could have been meatier somehow, but it is enjoyable nonetheless and genuinely creepy.

Period gothic drama on superstition v science
A very good modern period gothic drama about how a town can convince itself about a mythical beast while confronting contemporary science.
In the centre of the entire story is a beautiful but complex relationship between a woman of science and a priest who on most occasions disagree with one another but learn to come to terms with each other's viewpoints. And in between their relationship is a withering wife and her autistic son. A multilayered novel rich with substance.

A decent gothic tale, but could have done with a bit more action, or following the story as he travels the world over the years. Colin Firth steals the show here though, but overall could have been much better considering the run time.

Erika (17788 KP) rated The Mysteries of Udolpho in Books
Feb 2, 2019
The Mysteries of Udolpho is commonly known as the first 'Gothic Novel', and is cited in Jane Austen's Northanger Abbey. I wish that in British Literature/HS European Literature classes in the USA taught this instead of Jane Eyre.
This book is very long, which may seem daunting, but I believe it's worth it. I enjoy Radcliffe's writing style as well. You can really see why this book is used as a template for many gothic novels/films, like Crimson Peak.
Again, this won't be to everyone's taste, but if you like classic literature, I consider it a must-read.

Best batman ever
I saw this movie when I was 10 sat in the uci cinema and from the moment I saw it I loved it.
Casting was fab.
The way the made the movie dark and gothic true to the comics was good it shown they took a huge step away from the 60s series.
Full of memorable lines and scenes.
If you have never seen it it has to be on your list of films to see
