Disturbingly relevant even to contemporary events
Philip Roth's vivid dystopian novel depicts America under a fascist government through the eyes of a 9-year-old boy in the peak of World War One. It's dark and compelling, showing how creeping discrimination can ultimately make way for potential genocide. Absolutely grim yet gripping.

Lots of twists, interesting plot, claustrophobic
Mark Edwards' crime thriller is interesting because there is a massive psychological element to it. At times it is claustrophobic, especially as the protagonist continues to believe her assistant is plotting to overthrow her. While it does become slightly over the top, it's still gripping and engaging.

A good retelling of Bonnie and Clyde from the perspective of two former Texas rangers, Costner and Harrelson make a great team and the banter between them is excellent, this version glorifies the good guys and shows how great detective work from two old pro's couldn't be overlooked, gripping and intelligent stuff.

I was late to the table having only recently watched this gripping and monstrous psychological thriller, Jodie Foster as the FBI agent in training needing Hannibal Lecter's insight into a case, Hopkins plays the manipulative cannibal with aplomb and you fear for Clarice at every turn. Top quality scares in this one.

I am not a huge fan of war stories but this one was gripping and very well written. She went into the mind of Jack and pulled out every nightmare and everything he went through and wrote it into this amazing short story. It was amazing and the writing was superb and wonderful.

A great character drama
An odd titled film I knew little about before seeing other than great reviews and highly rated performances from the lead actors.
It's gripping, dark, sad and quite often funny in a dark way. Raising some very relevant topics in society at present. Believe the hype!

Gripping Thriller
A very good thriller, I was very surprised I've not heard this mentioned before as it stars a young Reese Witherspoon and Mark Wahlberg. A little slow to start and predictable but a very good tense ending with some memorable scenes! Very enjoyable check it out if you missed it.

Intricate gripping Drama
I'm not a big fan of dramas but when you find a good one it just has a great way of engrossing you into the story. This is one of those films, well directed, great cast with an interesting story of greed, betrayal and desperation. A very entertaining film.

This book is incredibly hard to read to those who have a sincere compassion towards those struggling with racism. However it brings a harsh trueness to the history of racism and how many were mistreated. It also give a honest portrayal of the emotions felt during the time of everyone involved.
