Dark Money: The Hidden History of the Billionaires Behind the Rise of the Radical Right

"Jane Mayer of the New Yorker shines a bright light on the billionaires that are often secretly hijacking our democracy. I learned a lot reading this book including all of the shady tax-exempt vehicles billionaires use to push their agenda. A book like this could easily be tedious, but Mayer wrote a book that is gripping and enraging."

"“Maiden” is as captivating as any scripted film this year. It tells an incredibly gripping and powerfully feminist tale about the first women’s sailing team to enter the Whitbread Round the World Race with killer archival footage which kept me spellbound the screen, and twists which ultimately subvert every preconceived notion associated with its subject matter."

Even better than the first series
This crime drama is brilliant. So many good plot twists and turns. This time the corruption squad are looking into an ambush on a witness under police protection. This does have some ties to the first series, so best watching that first. It's a gripping story that will keep you guessing.

Gripping, more explosive claims after Serial
First of all, you must listen to Serial before attempting to listen to this otherwise it makes absolutely no sense. This is an extension from the original podcast and even an expansion in terms of all the claims.

While the author obviously has vested interests in this and there are times of bias, it makes Adnan's story even more personable and the potential allegations of police corruption even more harrowing.

In Serial, the creator briefly mentions Rabia so it's interesting to see her perspective and also how she felt Adnan and the wider community including his family were wronged. She also brings in the social aspect and how the Muslim community as a whole were portrayed in a negative light. Gripping for true crime fans.

A Tale Worth Telling
Before this show came out I didn't know much about it, but after the first few episodes dropped and the buzz around the show began, I looked into it and decided to give it a go. I can certainly say that I'm glad I did.
This is a dark twisted tale, taking place in a near future dystopia. We follow a young woman called June, who's life is turned around when new laws are brought in that essentially brings America back to the dark ages. She is resilient though and she won't give up and won't stop fighting back, which is gripping to see play out.
If you are looking for an exciting thriller to make you think, check this out.
