A Disappointing Read
When I bought this book, it was because I had seen so much excitement around it - how it was thrilling and unlike anything else.
I really should have saved my money.
When I read a book, or watch a film for that matter, I want to care about the characters and to have something vested in the outcome - be it good or bad. I want to hate the bad guys, to be rooting for the hero/ine. Here, I just didn't. The characters were unsympathetic; whether it was the point of view or the style of writing, I read with a feeling of detachment and no great sense of "what will happen next". Even worse, the ending was a huge disappointment, feeling as if it had been tacked on quickly in order to meet a deadline.
In all honesty, a book I wish I hadn't bothered to persevere with to the end.

Steve Fearon (84 KP) rated St. Osmunds (2013) in Movies

Strong ideas, but misses the mark
St Osmunds is a mixture of found footage and traditional shooting, following two guys that are making a documentary about an Insane Asylum that closed under mysterious circumstances.
There is some nicely placed humour at times, and a great red-herring/meta humour joke quite early on that really surprised me, and the dialogue is actually not the worst, considering how badly low budget horror treats scripts normally.
The plot is ambitious, at times quite interesting but all too often it falls a little short of its goal, leaving the viewer confused as to what is happening.
This may just be due to inexperience on behalf of those involved, or a deliberate attempt to at making a mysterious film, but either way its a slightly chaotic ride.
This is a film for people interested in interesting concepts and twists, but not one if you are expecting a high budget affair.

Cool ideas (1 more)
Amazing battle scenes
Another high octane, bloody, brutal action film from the guys who gave us Crank. A real mix-match of several ideas thrown in the blender together from Running Man, eXistenZ, Death Race and games like The Sims and Gears of War. So very low on originality but still a cool idea taken a step further. Two games dominate the future world where virtual reality enables the Player to control another human being. In the Society (Sims) game things take on a weird and sexual nature. In the other game Slayers, death row prisoners can earn freedom if they manage to survive 30 missions. The battle scenes are amazing and you feel like you are there right in the middle of it, not just viewing from the sidelines. Quite violent and over the top like the Crank films. If you like those types of films, games mentioned you should like this.

I absolutely fell in love with this series from page 1! Incredible MC series that follows so many great characters where the guys are all just a bunch of big softies for their women. ;-) I love everyone in this group.. the brothers are tough, alpha bikers who would do anything to protect their women and families. The ladies have all gone through so much and are all so different but all such interesting characters each with crazy stories and pasts of their own.
I've said this in past reviews throughout this series but what I love the most about it is that it follows everyone.. one book does not just cover one character or couple, but you are able to follow along with everyone's story throughout. LOVE IT! I've laughed and cried, feeling so close to these characters and am so sad I've finally reached the end. CAN'T WAIT for more books in this series!! HIGHLY recommended!!

Best cameo ever!
So glad Ryan Reynolds finally found a character he could really live in. Had always thought he was a cool, funny actor but had never really connected with a role before this one.
More of the same from the last film here, so if you liked that you will like this.
This time he teams up with Cable and his self created band of amateur heroes the "X-Force" to fight more bad guys and try and save a young mutant from killing someone and going to far.
Great soundtrack, random movie references which is one of the things I love most, but thought it dragged in some parts where it was sort of dull and not much happening. Some of the jokes fell flat and the characters talked too fast so you couldn't understand them.
Great action and car chase scenes make this a very entertaining film to experience.

A great story (2 more)
Actually a good sense of humor
Tom hiddelston's french accent is hilarious
Early man is great but forgettable
Ok...so I bet you're wondering what is this? Well let me explain it's a movie from ardman animation, the guys behind Wallace and gromit and it's a love letter to soccer or football as the UK calls it. The reason this didn't get any attention was because the same day it came out in theaters a certain panther themed marvel superhero movie came out so it's easy to understand why. This movie is slow but once it gets done introducing the main characters it picks up. The humor is hilarious and Tom hiddelston's accent was most of the humor!
Does it hold a torch to Wallace and gromit and chicken run? Of course not but at the same time it's a great movie.
I recommend watching it if you're in the mood to watch something or if you need to keep kids quiet

LeftSideCut (3776 KP) rated Monster House (2006) in Movies
Dec 19, 2019 (Updated Jan 14, 2020)
A horror film for children - is what Monster House is marketed as, and it's pretty much just that.
The animation style is different, looks a little ropey by todays standard but is still pretty charming.
The narrative really drags to begin with, with characters who are hard to get on board with (accept the grumpy old man, that guys speaks to me...)
The halfway mark is a turning point. When it becomes clearly obvious that the kids are being terrorized by a living house intent on eating them, it feels like a crazy episode of Scooby Doo.
The final 15 minutes or so are great, and where the animation is at its best. It also packs in a genuinely sad plot point that lends the movie an emotional edge, and it's the exact kind of thing that makes these kind of films good.
There are certainly better animated films out there, but it's not the worst way to spend an hour and a half.
