Peter Shephard (2822 KP) rated Star Trek: Deep Space Nine in TV

Some of the best Trek
Deep Space 9 is almost the Marmite of Star Trek. You (generally) either love it or you hate it; however, unlike Marmite, it is absolutely possible to love or hate whole seasons of DS9.
Personally, Season 1 and Season 2 are generally pretty poor. A few good episodes, and a chunk of character development goes some way to making it, but it isn't really until part way through Season 3 and even into Season 4, with wars against the Klingons, the Cardassians, the Marquis, and ultimately the Dominion, that it really takes off. And even then, it's probably seasons 5-7 which are actually excellent (although there are some "meh" episodes).
Some of the story arcs take several episodes to really have an impact, but when they do have an impact, they really get you - whether its disbelief, or sadness, or adreneline, the season-long arcs introduce a totally new method of watching Trek.

This book has been one of my all-time favorites for years, and one of the few I re-read about every year or two.
A clique of "gifted misfits" find one another and form a clique at a liberal arts school (think Middlebury) on the East Coast. One is dead very early on. The rest of the book unfolds with. their incredibly intertwined, co-dependant, and complex relationships as you slowly learn what happened, why it did, and what's going to go down after.

I hate clowns, really hate them. Ever since I was about 11 years old and decided reading IT would be a good idea. That's a hell of a novel for a child to struggle through and it wasn't until many years later I felt brave enough to watch the movie - it just solidified my hatred of clowns.
So it was kicking and screaming my not so darling husband dragged me to watch IT a gleam in his eye the entire time (I swear the man is a psychopath sometimes).
In my not so humble opinion this remake is far better than the original despite being 10x more terrifying to those of us with a bad case of coulrophobia than the 1990 version. It's creepier with better cinematic focus and acting.
I'm looking forward to seeing the story and my terror continued in the sequel when the psychopath drags me to see that one too.

5 Fantastic Stars. This is the first I've read by this author and even though it's book 3 of the series I didn't feel that I'd missed anything vital. The action started nearly straight away and it just didn't stop. Love the love, hate relationship between Jared and Sparrow and can you blame him after what he thinks shes done. If I could award more stars I would. Just bought the rest of the series.

Powerful and poinient study of hate and racism with a redemptive role for Ed Norton who put himself through rigorous physical training to play the role of violent neo-nazi Derek Vinyard.
Norton plays the role with quite a frightening realism and tone and his journey to redemption is a very rough readjustment.
His brother who idolises him cannot quite understand the transition..still a very relevant movie today as it was in 1998.

This was interesting. it was fast paced and at times i had to wrack my brain to remember what character was who. It had a lot of love to hate villans though and that was so much fun. I enjoyed the characters. I didn't think it needed to be quite as long as it was only because some places seemed to drag for me.. But overall the storyline was good and the characters were good :)

Dark Comedy
I found this movie to be absolutely hilarious. It is dark humor, and not the type of humor for everyone. However, a group of kids in the wilderness trying to save their friend along the way with crazy and unexpected twists and turns proves to be a hilarious match. This movie does contain a lot of sexual comedy, so if that's not your thing, you will probably hate this movie.
