The Miseducation of Evie Epworth came along at just the right time for me. Another lockdown was looming, things weren’t looking wholly optimistic, and along came Evie, hurtling down a country lane in a red MG. Actually, this has to be one of the most laugh-out-loud, followed-by-a-gasp openings I’ve ever read. And it didn’t stop there. Evie is a breath of much needed fresh air. She reminded me of the hope that you have as a young person, embarking on your grown up life as you leave formal education.

The dreaded Christine (soon to be Evie’s stepmother) makes such a good baddie (or a baddie you love to hate!). She’s a pleasure to hate, to be honest - but I’m afraid I did feel sorry for her - she just wanted a way out of the life she’d been given. Mrs Scott-Pam, Evie’s beloved next door neighbour, and her estranged daughter, Caroline, are just the people to help Evie out of her predicament - and the rest of the cast of colourful characters are just perfect.

I’m so glad there will be more of Evie in the future, and I can’t wait to read more.

Many thanks to The Pigeonhole for serialising this book, and to Matson Taylor for reading along, commenting, answering our questions and generally talking with us about all things Evie related. I really did have the best time 😊

A Complete Waste
No movie with a concept and set up like this should be boring. But it was/is. Incomprehensible and dumb I can deal with and still have a good time, But this was impossible to care about enough to even properly hate. I give it two stars just for how committed Margot Robbie is to a character that shouldn't be remotely likable (she is a psychopath murderess, after all, who is in love with the least charming or scary version of the joker ever conceived) and for Will Smith being Will Smith again.

The Downward Spiral is one of the last great works of art produced in the 20th century.

Moving beyond the abrasive noise of the Broken/Fixed era while making callbacks to the dark pop music of Pretty Hate Machine and showcasing the ambient music that would eventually win Trent Reznor an Oscar; standout tracks on the The Downward Spiral are as varied as the scorching Mr Self-Destruct, the groove of Heresy and Closer or the celestial beauty of A Warm Place and the title track.

The album also features an ambition and aesthetic that still informs Nine Inch Nails over twenty years later.

I looooooved this book. BUT - not at first. It took me a while to get into it. I didn't like that it was a male lead, I went into it thinking the lead was female. So, maybe that's my fault. I couldn't connect with him, and I didn't like him. But maybe that's the point? By about 1/2 way through I was HOOKED. I could not stop reading to find out what the heck was going on! And the ending! WOW! SO not what I expected or what I've ever read before. I coulnd't believe it. So clever, and so unexpected - I wanted to hate the ending but in the end I ended up LOVING it! Nice job!

Good but just as frustrating as the original
I love/hate paladins. I find it hugely frustrating or very satisfying depending which way the games go. Paladins Strike, on android? Cool! First few games were good then it all started going downhill. It might be me but I found it hard to control. I've played other games with the same set up, but this just doesn't work that well. Skill choices that you buy with credits, pop up on the screen while you are playing. Thats distracting. It could be quite fun but the lack of control makes it a dud for me.

I had a hate/love relationship with this book. I wasn't a fan of this book as I was reading it, but it made me want to keep reading to find out what was going to happen. It kept me interested, even though I wasn't liking it. But then a funny think happened, I finished the book. I wrote reviews for it, I told other people my thoughts and then I realized that I had secretly loved it the whole time. I had to go back and take back what I had said and change my reviews. I fell in love with this book and would recommend it to anyone and everyone who wants a good, quick read.

This is one of those perfect love/hate relationships that is believable and fun to read. Carter and Reid are at each other throats from the beginning and the way the relationship works out is swoon worthy. The competition isn't all it seems and the ending is perfect. I could not ask for a better contemporary food loving romance.
The only thing that would make this book better is a recipe guide so I can cook the food because it all sounds fantastic and I am hungry after reading this!
Last thing I want to throw in this; thank you for all of the nerdy references they were perfect and my fangirl heart enjoyed it immensely!

If anybody asks me what I consider a 100% perfect movie, this is the one I would recommend. Although it’s tough to watch, with it’s shocking brutality, it’s also beautiful to watch. The use of the songs used on the soundtrack heighten the beauty of the movie’s horrifically violent scenes, which is one of the reasons that this film is so perfect.

An amazing cast creates characters that you either love or hate, which ultimately makes certain characters’ deaths heartbreaking.

Apparently there are no plans for a sequel which is a real shame; this is an absolute classic and a work of real genius. Watch this, and prepare to be blown away.
