This is one of the films I put on as a background noise and is instantly quotable. A fun take on the macho tough guy cop movies that focuses on the less heroic but equally useful roles in the police force. Will Ferrell is always a force of extreme comedy and Mark Wahlberg tries to play it serious but complements the relationship with Will.

I'm a peacock, you go to let me fly!!!

Strong retelling of the heroic Private Doss as I was completely unaware of his actions although I was aware of the army and their treatment of objectors.
Mel Gibson has captured the essence of the futility of war and how the heroics of one man saved many against overwhelming odds.
Effects are very realistic and the sound design has made this a home cinema favourite amongst enthusiasts.
Do not miss this film!

"The appearance of the sea knight in my beach movie was partly styled on Franco Nero in this film that is mostly forgettable. A heroic performance by Nero shows no end of energy and commitment. The only way I have seen the film is on VHS which, when transferred from the film to the video source, is out of order. Two reels were switched. A character comes back from the dead! Amazing."

"To understand ravens, Heinrich becomes the raven. He is heroic in the lengths he goes to to conduct his scientific research, and relentlessly curious in pursuing the reasons behind raven behavior. He causes us to reflect on what we mean by morality, intelligence, and emotion in animals and humans alike. This book made me fall in love with wild birds, and those who know me also know how huge birds have become in my life."
