"A character-driven story that is full of action with steamy moments interspersed, this series just gets better and better."

"If every U.S. citizen could have the benefit of knowing Zinn’s collection of historical texts from a wide range of relatively known and unknown people throughout our country’s history, there would be a lot better quality in our current political class and in the style and substance of our governance."

"Chains” was my introduction into the world of historical fiction, and oh what a lovely introduction it was. Laurie Halse Anderson writes about the unbreakable bond of love between two sisters, a love that carried them through the hardships of slavery, to fight for the freedom of both themselves and America."

This beautifully rendered story is about Camille Claudel, the woman who inspired and challenged Auguste Rodin's talent and emotions, with a level of passion and genius all her own. Read my review of this amazing historical fiction novel here. https://tcl-bookreviews.com/2014/11/04/the-cast-and-curse-of-genius/

This is the story of Rosemund, a woman who was both literally and figuratively pulled up from the gutter to become Lady Blithman, the Chocolate Maker's Wife. See what I thought of this historical, culinary, women's fiction novel in my review here. https://tcl-bookreviews.com/2019/08/16/a-delicious-phoenix/

This biographical, historical, women’s fiction novel, is very unique in that it is told almost as a memoir, but with a twist I think makes it special. I hope you’ll check out my #bookreview for this novel, on my blog here. https://tcl-bookreviews.com/2019/09/06/a-good-ghost/

I read around fifty pages before I decided to quit. The story was rather boring and the numerous names were confusing, so I had a hard time keeping everyone straight. I think the main problem was that the author got bogged down with historical details - names, descriptions, what was going to happen, and even things that didn't really matter and forgot to tell the story. I think there probably is some interesting stuff in here, but frankly, I don't care to wade through the rest of the book to find it. However, I did read the epilogue and historical notes, and found them very interesting. That is the best part of the book.
