The holidays are not necessarily synonymous with scary or horror movies; however, there have been some interesting ones over the years. And you thought The Nightmare Before Christmas was scary!

I just watched Anna and the Apocalypse yesterday, which is a great addition to one of my fave subgenres (holiday horror). Better Watch Out was pretty fun as well, and the original Black Christmas will always be a favorite.

"I could have selected any of the Hulot movies to include on this list, but Monsieur Hulot’s Holiday is the one I have come back to the most over the years. Though I love the encroaching modernity in Mon oncle and PlayTime, sometimes I need the soothing world and narrative pace of Monsieur Hulot’s Holiday."

"Roman Holiday is another one of those movies: first off, I feel like I’m supposed to go to Rome, like my soul’s supposed to be in Rome, but it’s also one of those movies that I have on my computer for when I’m abroad. It also helps me fall asleep — the older movies, the way they look, for some reason, make me tired. It’s just one of those easy movies to watch and cozy up to and unwind with."

"I am such a blokey bloke and that movie… We’re down at the holiday house, and I’ve taken all my DVDs down to our holiday house, and I’ll just chuck that on, because I know I’m going to laugh at that constantly. I think these three movies so far give you an insight to how crazy or kooky I am. I watched Superbad in a cinema, and I watched it three times."

"Oh, you know what I love? I’m going to give you one of my holiday movies that I love, that I can’t stop watching. It goes on marathon every year. That’s A Christmas Story. That’s like on marathon all damn day. And I’ve watched that movie ten times. My favorite scene is when the dogs run in there and eat that damn turkey, man. I tell you, I’m in hysterics, man. That is one of my favorite movies."

Who doesn't get fed up with the relatives sometimes?
In my top 3 Christmas movies of all time.

This time, the vacation comes to the Griswolds as the relatives come by for a helping of holiday cheer as Clark decides to makes his home a Christmas light spectacle while waiting for his Christmas bonus.

I think it resonates because we have all had those trying times with the family or the one relative you wish you could tell off or not have to sit next to.

The witty banter among the family as well as Chevy Chase's impeccable dry wit makes the film a venerable holiday classic for sure.

I am a big Mark W. fan so these movies are right up my alley. This movie was so much fun and so funny. The grand dads make this movie even better than the first and John Cena was hilarious. This movie was a holiday movie so even though its May I was in a big time Christmas spirit watching this. Like I seriously wanted to go put my tree up lol

"I would say, Vacances romaines. I don’t know the English title. With Audrey Hepburn. Roman Holiday? I was not at all a baby girl who just wanted to be a princess, at all, but the fact is, in my movie choices, I was really obsessed with those beautiful and strong and funny and fragile women. [laughs] I was not wearing any princess dress or things like this, but in movies, I was very into it."
