Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi (1983)
Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi (1983)
1983 | Fantasy, Sci-Fi
Let me start out with this: yes, I love space bears. Ewoks are my favorite alien species out of the entire universe.
Return of the Jedi is my favorite out of the original trilogy, and it's the one I've watched the most, with A New Hope coming in second. I thought it was awesome that Leia dressed up as the bounty hunter to free Han.
The scenes on Endor are my favorite, because it reminded me of the woods my grandmother lived in. This specific film inspired a lot of the stories I wrote as a kid.
Now, I do have a beef with the remastered versions: I absolutely HATE the 'NOOOOO' from Darth Vader when he goes for the Emperor, it's the worst and it makes me cringe every time I hear it.

Classic Eddie Murphy
An old school classic comedy that showcases a great comedic actor at his very best. This was Eddie Murphy is at his most funniest (and serious in parts) role ever (imo anyway)

Murphy plays an african prince who wants to find a woman who will love him for himself not because he is royalty so he decides to head over to America to find said bride. He poses as a poor african student and when he eventually does find that special woman he goes all out to win her over while trying to keep his identity a secret.

A sequel is due to this next year (32 years after the original!!) and I just hope they dont ruin the legacy of the original with a painfully unfunny film.

Perhaps I'm biased but I love Michelle Obama. She's the type of woman I aspire to be. I've read her memoir and this documentary is just a deeper dive into who she is as a person, as a role model, as a mother, as a wife, as a black woman living in the United States. She is fierce and passionate and it radiates off the screen throughout this film.

Not only is this film beautifully shot, but the majority of its production team are women and I think that's equally as incredible. More than anything, this film provides some hope. We are in some unprecedented times in various ways, but she is confident we will persevere and I believe her.

Michelle Obama is a gift and it's incredible to watch her in this film.

I didn't hate this film as much as I hated the first two but I am crediting that to Philip Seymour Hoffman. That man is as talented as they come and left this earth far too soon. I think this is the best of the first three. I love that they brought back Luther. I loved what he added to the second one and I hope he stays consistent in the next few films. My favorite character was Benji - I thought he was super funny and great to watch. I also liked the added layer of a love interest for Ethan. The first two films are what they are when it comes to romance, but this one felt authentic and enjoyable.

Not the worst, but not the best film ever. On to the next!
