Fun but lacking in substance
I've read quite a few of Nick Spalding's books, and they can always be relied on to provide some much needed comic relief. Bricking It is no different, however I did feel like it was a little lacking in substance.
The plot is straight forward, and to be honest maybe a tad basic. It feels like a very short read and I do think potentially could have been expanded on a little. Focusing on both Danny and Hayley's sides of the story helped provide variety and a much needed change in perspective. There's a fair few funny moments in this, some that made me laugh out loud. There were also a few unbelievably cringeworthy moments that I could hardly bear to read (think toilet humour). I think overall this has a decent entertaining story but is sadly lacking in any real substance likely because the plot is very minimal.

Just when I thought I was near the end it turned out I was only halfway through.....bonus!
Lili isn't the easiest character to love but she grew on me. For all that she is, has been and has the potential to be, she has human traits that she never wanted. She is jaded, tired and depressed. The difference for her is that she isn't in her thirties or forties......she's thousands of years old with a past she'd like to forget.....
Catch Lili Too kept me guessing all the way through, everytime I thought I'd worked it out something else happened.....just how I like it.
The finger of suspicion spins slowly around a misfit group, casting doubts and leaving mistrust. Added in at the beginning of each chapter is a nice one liner of sarcastic humour, which I like.
A well written book that I didn't want to put down. It did exactly what it should do and pulled me into a different world......

Three Billboards is a fricking masterpiece, and another home run from Martin McDonagh.
The cast is stacked to say the least. Frances McDormand and Sam Rockwell both give a career best performance. The supporting cast is made up of the likes of Woody Harrelson, Caleb Landry Jones, Abbie Cornish, Lucas Hedges, John Hawkes, Clarke Peters, Samara Weaving, and Peter Dinklage - all who are just great. McDonagh's screenplay is fantastic as per usual, and the runtime is filled with his token dark humour, as well as plenty of emotionally charged events. The narrative is sort of all over the place, with several plot strands all running alongside and throughout eachother, but it's messiness adds to the whole experience, almost like a sort of controlled chaos. All of this is backed by a truly wonderful music score by Carter Burwell.
Three Billboards is just one of those movies that springs off the screen and sticks in your head for all the right reasons.

One of the oldest and best just got a relaunch
Blood Bowl is more than just a boxed game; for some it's a way of life, boasting tournaments and fans all around the world, including players of the many spin-off video games. The base set barely touched the surface of the hobby. I thoroughly recommend seeking out the Death Zone expansions, which add league rules to the mix. There are already many team expansions (such as Elves) released with more to come. The hobby is further supported by an abundance of third party additions. If you like the idea of playing a strategic, turn-based version of American Football with Dwarves and mutant rats the look no further.

When you imagine yourself in certain scenarios there's a big difference between how you see it going and how reality lets it play out. The prime example is this film... we all want to be the Jerry (Jeremy Renner), but it's much more likely that we're one of the other four guys. Less precise and strategic, more haphazard and crazed. If I'm being really honest, I'd probably turn into an Anna in this situation.
I really enjoyed this one, laughter is great therapy. Some of the humour is a little dark at times, but it just gave an extra layer to the flow of the story, and made the ending that much more... intriguing..?

Huge step down from series 1 but still enjoyable
The second series of the amazing Killing Eve starts off right where the first ended. The first couple of episdes fit well with the feel of the first series, but after that it starts to drift. The charm is lost somewhat, and the quirky humour toned down (though still some laugh out loud moments in places).
The mystery and rarity of Eve and Villanelle meeting is quickly lost, and a number of massive implausible plotlines just threw me right out. After spending the first series hunting this assassin, to then drop it completely and go in such a different direction just did not work for me. I get that the overall plot by MI6 was what mattered more to them, and made the story stick together, but for Eve and others to go along with it so willingly just didn't seem believable.
Enjoyable but a let-down.

Jesus. H. Christ.
It's 2019, and I've finally sat down and watched Sharknado, after hearing many years worth of friends and even random people tell me how it's the epitome of a bad-good movie.
That, my friends, is just a big fat badly-rendered shark of a lie.
There is nothing redeemable about Sharknado. The acting from everyone is awful and the special effects are laughable (Easily worse than a late 90s music video).
There are some scenes that just baffle me with their inclusion. Nothing really makes sense, and all of this would be perfectly acceptable if it was indeed 'bad-good' or mildly funny, but any attempt at humour made me want to tear my ears off.
I would say a hard avoid on this one, but I'm going to persevere and watch the whole lot of them, just to add a review here. Will they get better as they go on? Pretty sure they can't get any worse!

Spielberg's exemplary suspense-fright machine remains the only killer shark movie you will ever need to watch. A two-course fish supper: the first half concerns police chief Roy Scheider's attempts to persuade the self-serving authorities of the danger posed by a marauding shark (post-Watergate subtext is fairly obvious); the second sees Scheider, bright young oceanographer Richard Dreyfuss, and salty sea dog Robert Shaw setting off on a primal quest to slay the monster, in a boat which may well prove to be of inadequate size.
Spielberg does an excellent job of hiding the pulpy horror-story origins of the tale, swathing it in plausible small-town Americana, low-key humour and excellent characterisation; John Williams' score is, needless to say, essential to the enterprise. The battle to the death in the second half is superbly constructed, paced and executed. Superb entertainment; I am happy to report that over forty years on, Jaws remains entirely capable of making cinema audiences squirm and scream.
