Hard time connecting with the adults, the children were far more interesting to me. I was expecting more intrigue, or maybe I missed it.I liked it, but I didn’t fully follow what was happening and found myself going back to read again

Chris Hooker (419 KP) rated Breathe (Breathe, #1) in Books
Jan 12, 2018
[Breathe] by [Sarah Crossan] was a dystopian novel where the government manipulated people to remain in power. The earth's atmosphere has been depleted so badly that the air can not sustain life. Or, that is what people believe. [Crossan] creates a world full of lies and intrigue but characters that are heroic and keep you on the edge of your seat waiting to see what will happen.

This book was incredible. I didn't find the format jarring like in the first book since I knew what to expect. I flew through it in two sittings. There isn't much I can say about the plot because of spoiling the first book of the Themis Files but lets just say everything gets ramped up to a million in this book.
Deborah (162 KP) rated The Intrigue at Highbury: Or, Emma's Match (Mr. & Mrs. Darcy Mysteries, #5) in Books
Dec 21, 2018
Bebris really starts to hit her stride with this instalment. The first books were entertaining enough, but rereading, I see that The Intrigue at Highbury and the following book, The Deception at Lyme, really are of a higher standard, better plotted and more involving than the earlier books. I hope that when The Suspicions at Sandition is available in paperback that the standard will have been maintained.

Good one
With actors like Denzel Washington and Ryan Reynolds you know this movie is good. Not high budget but filled with action and intrigue. If you like "spy" movies you'll enjoy this one. Good cinematography and a story that unfolds quite well. Some parts were a little predictable, but it still keeps the interest. It's an older movie but very endearing. Worth a watch.
Hazel (2934 KP) rated Her First Child [Audiobook] in Books
Dec 31, 2022
This is a suspense and intrigue filled book that kept my attention from the start with a narrator that was great and really brought the story and the characters to life.
With multiple characters and a story that is told over two timelines, this is a book that could easily get away from you but the author cleverly keeps you on track and on your toes.
I have to admit that the characters aren't particularly likeable but they are very interesting and complex so I don't think it matters too much with this book and it adds to the intrigue and keeps you guessing to the end.
This is the first book by Sheryl Browne I have read and it certainly won't be the last and I want to thank Bookouture Audio and NetGalley for enabling me to listen and share my thoughts of Her First Child.

Chris Hooker (419 KP) rated Dead Wake: The Last Crossing of the Lusitania in Books
Jan 12, 2018
[Eric Larson] does it again with [Dead Wake] by making non fiction read like fiction all the while providing a great amount of information. The research that he does before writing a book shows his deep passion fro the topics. In [Dead Wake] he informs the reader not only what is was like being on the Lusitania, but also the political intrigue that seemed to surround the voyage and it's demise.
Movie Critics (823 KP) rated House Of Cards in TV
Jul 6, 2017
Scenes pick up where they left off in the previous episode, and respect the audience’s ability to sustain interest. Given the intrigue, great characters and Spacey’s sublime performance, viewers won’t need gimmicks to keep them coming back for more.

This was amazing. I loved the mystery, the twists and turns, the intrigue and the complications. The characters were so much fun to read about and live their lives with them. The plot was amazing and kept me on the edge of my seat. I had to keep reading until it was over and I loved it so much. I am so glad I got to review this one
