Dante is amazing
Not a bad little flick....
So, here we go... my fisrt non-horror... wait... no. My second non-horror movie review. And I'm not ashamed to admit that I really liked this movie.
I usually gauge Disney movies by how amny times I say WTF during them and amke that famous [parental "UghmmmMyyyyyGawd".... But today, i'm doing a different pattern.
I don't know if getting older has softened my pallet a bit, but this movie actually made me cry. I'm not a bad person, mind you, i have been known to be a bit of a jerk from time to time. But this movie made me feel for the main character, Miguel. Without spoiling it for some of you... His lineage story is worthy of shedding a few tears over.
So, today I give this movie 8 tears out of a possible ten... and I'm not ashamed to admit that i was tearing up...and down my cheeks... at certain moments prior to the credits. So, come on gentlemen... Be a man... shed a tear for a sad story of a boy who just wants to play guitar and sing like his Great great Papa

Was the Murder the Result of a Snack Attack?
When someone starts breaking into houses in the neighborhood taking nick knacks and sweets, Poppy McAlister is shocked to discover that it is her aunt Ginny sleepwalking under the power of some new medication. However, when a murder takes place a couple of blocks away, the police zero in on Aunt Ginny as the culprit. The victim, unknown to both Poppy and Aunt Ginny, seems like he could have been a nice guy or a complete jerk. Which was true?

This book spent quite a bit of time setting up the premise, but once the murder took place, things really picked up. I enjoyed needing to learn what kind of guy the victim was since it added a nice twist to the mystery. The suspects were strong, and I could have seen any of them as the killer before we reached the climax. The love triangle is just heating up; I know which guy I am rooting for, but I could see myself happy with either of them at this point. I did find a couple of the characters annoying, especially Poppy’s mother-in-law. Aunt Ginny provides lots of laughs, and the gluten-free, paleo friendly recipes at the end sound delicious.

This is not cinema?
A hero of mine recently said this is not cinema. Is it the same as a pop puppet singing a song someone else has written with no emotion or soul? Well no actually. Good cinema is good art and art makes you feel things. Endgame will make you ride emotions from start to finish. Ok it is s visual feast but it's full of messages and commentary as well and the overall ethos is, well pretty much "for the many not the few", take that what you will. There is also that incredible moment when all the most powerful ones line up and they are female and you go "wow, go kick ass". They have been brave. They don't care if some spotty fanboy cries into his jerk off sock because captain marvel had a vagina, they wanted a strong female character so they did it. It is brave cinema.

It's almost as though they knew the people would leak spoilers too so they make the sentiment of the film and character start at the beginning almost as if they are mocking themselves. Brave.

Did I enjoy the actual film though I hear you ask? Yeah, it was great.

The film has a great premise. An alpha male walks from his home in La Grange, Oregon to New York to tell the story of his gay son who was bullied so badly he committed suicide. Sounds interesting until you realize that it is nearly impossible to adapt into a cinematic story. It is one man traveling on the road. He is not rich; he is stubborn; he is kind of a jerk to other people. Mark Wahlberg is good as Joe Bell, but there is not much of a character to play. So you have to give him the spirit of his son, but the son would be his version of the son and not the real son so the actor playing him would need to distinguish the two versions. This never happens. Another huge problem is the ending. It comes too quickly and is extremely shocking (and not in a way a filmmaker would want). Yes, the event is foreshadowed in the first act and it would fit with the character, but there needed to be more story in order to achieve the desired effect of the event. The whole film has a problem by staying true to life instead of adding texture to the characters and story.

We start off this book with Annisa and Landon being a couple when a new brother and sister move in next door to Annisa. She feels an immediate pull to Chase but doesn't do anything as she is with Landon - even though he acts like a jerk at times. It all becomes clear and Landon's behaviour is explained. Annisa and Chase are together, and so are Penelope and Landon. This leads to a fast-paced fantasy adventure, as they learn more about themselves, who can help them, who is out to hinder them, and who wants to actually harm them.

Well written, with a full range of teenage emotions and reactions, this is a story that will sweep you away as you stay mainly with Chase and Annisa as they learn just who they are and what they are capable of.

With no editing or grammatical errors that I found, this was an enjoyable story from start to finish and I look forward to continuing their story!

Savage Monarchs ( Nocturnal Academy 4)
By Margo Ryerkerk and Holli Hook
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Escaping the academy was just the beginning.

I've made it out of Nocturnal Academy.

No longer do I exist to please the vamps. Now, as a member of the Winter Court, my job is to execute them. But maybe my new standing is no better than being a courtesan. Now I am to become an assassin for the King of the Winter Court. The rules of the game might've changed, but I'm still a pawn.

If the King of the Winter Court thinks that I'm going to turn into a mindless soldier after everything I've been through, he's in for a rude awakening. I'm going to do this on my terms while keeping a wall around my heart at all times.
I will not be vulnerable again.

Life, however, has other ideas. Like throwing in a friend from my past and worse, Thorsten, a handsome jerk of a vampire who has messed with my mind and feelings one too many times.

I might've left Nocturnal Academy, but I'm far from safe.

Best one yet I think. Onyx finally has some answers and revenge on her mind. Looking forward to what she does now.
