Emma Tucker (52 KP) rated Dunkirk (2017) in Movies

So intense!
This is one of those films that you end up thinking about for days afterwards. It's so intense and submursive that it really takes you on its journey. It is so well filmed and the acting is incredible. It's a film I believe everyone should see. It was such a massive part of the Second World War which is often skipped over in history lessons.
What an innovative way to look at a subject. Follow the Link: A Journey Though Technology show brief information about a wealth of different items and links them together in a plethora of different manners. As a way to introduce STEM subjects to a more reluctant reader, I think this would be ideal and the curiosity raising presentation a real bonus to child engagement.

This young adult novel fills in the blanks about what Jyn was doing for the years involving Saw and her journey to becoming a rebel, like the title suggests. The book had a fairly good pace, and was easy to read. I liked Revis' development of Jyn's character, and I think it was spot on. Overall, a good addition to the new Star Wars Canon.

Arabs, Vikings & Mythical Beasties
I'm not capable of being objective about this film - it is one of my all time favourites, however it has a fantastic story and it's brilliantly delivered - albeit a bit gorily in places. However if you need one reason to watch this film, let it be for the fantastic scene that shows the protagonists linguistic journey to learning a new language.
Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2470 KP) rated The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy in Books
Mar 9, 2018
The wildly wacky novel that features Thursdays you can't get the handle of and teaches the importance of towels. The plot involves aliens and the last human's journey after Earth is destroyed. If you haven't read it yet, you are in for a treat.

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2470 KP) rated Elmer and the Dragon (My Father's Dragon, #2) in Books
Mar 9, 2018
The journey home with the dragon is filled with danger when they encounter a storm and must land on an island with the dangerous disease of curiosity. While not quite as imaginative as the first book, it is still fun for all ages.

Faultless acting
I remember finishing the PS3 version and being in awe. Just recently replayed the remaster. Is hard to improve on perfection but it brings the graphics up well.
What a masterpiece. Never has a game brought me to tears of both sadness and joy. An incredible journey of emotion and heart pounding action. Do yourself a favour and play it.

Journeys, love, loss and hope
This book was great! It is reminiscent of The Passage and The Road. Equal parts hopeful and despairing, this novel slowly reels you in and makes you care about its characters and their journey. The ending, though bittersweet, is masterful. There are only a few spots where the plot falters but these are easily forgivable in light of the finished product.

Wouldn't watch it again
I wasn't expecting the subtitles, and while I understand the creative choice I think they took away from the story. The story itself failed to be unique or interesting with few moments that could set it apart from any other journey home movie. Some people might enjoy the art of this movie, but overall it definitely wasn't my thing.

Choice of setting
This is probably one of the best films I've watched this year. I love Steve McQueen's direction style, and the cinematography worked brilliantly. The cast was strong, and all of the performances were great. It was interesting, and I was engaged the whole time with the story. Some of it may have been predictable, but it was the journey there that was enjoyable.
