A book of self discovery, anxiety and acceptance.
Girl in the Walls is heartbreaking and empowering. It's beautiful and sad. I feel for the main character, the way they slowly pick their way through thoughts, feelings and removes the labels given by society to become their true self.
The reaction from the parents is fairly balanced but I think is a tamer version of what some people struggle through. I'm glad though, it's nice to see a gentler response.
I'm blessed to have family that are finding themselves, that have been able to openly say "this is me" and have support (early on in a journey that is so right and is clearly the right path for the younger relative).
Well worth an afternoon read. Keep an open mind and heart.

A journey that would destroy so many is brilliantly written about in this. From the initial shock of the twin towers on that fateful day to the day of retirement, we are carried through many challenges.
Informative and heartbreaking, you learn things that would never cross your mind and feel so emotional.
I was hooked from the start and struggled to put it down. The pictures used really paint a bigger picture of family (which is what the military is), of togetherness and some of the numerous highs and lows that are faced each and every day.
If you're a fan of real life stories, want an idea of past events or generally like to emerse yourself in a brilliant read then this would be a great place to start.

The main character is Claire, smart, sexy, funny and for me, a very lucky lady! From a bad situation new and awesome things happen for her......I so want those things to happen for me too.
As a character she's well written, likeable and shows that she's human like the rest of us, that the tasty, exciting experiences she has are actually achievable for us too.
The events that start her journey, again, could happen to anyone......the things that come to light, a little less so. However, I do wish there was a little more depth to that side of the story, a little more meat on the bones.
Overall I do love it so a solid 4 out of 5
