The Chocolate Lady (94 KP) rated My Counterfeit Self in Books
Oct 5, 2020
What does poetry have to do with social activism? A whole lot, actually, as you'll find out in Jane Davis's novel "My Counterfeit Self" and through my #bookreview of this historical, contemporary, women's literary fiction novel on my blog now. (I think this has just become my favorite of her books, as it just edged out "Smash All the Windows" by a whisker!)
https://tcl-bookreviews.com/2019/05/11/a-poetically-explosive-story/
Enjoyed this as much as Gabe aggravated me at times
I chuckled a few times, I cried a little, I willed them to stop being so stupid and just get together...and when they finally gave in, it was beautiful! But Gabe up to that point annoyed me a lot. I guess he had his reasons for being how he was, but he wasn't helping me like him any!
Nevertheless, I did enjoy reading this.

I enjoyed this a lot more than i expected
Initially, it took a little getting into with its slow start but once it kicked into gear I was hooked. It had everything I love in a book. Some action, some romance, a bit of attitude from the female lead... I'm really surprised by how much I enjoyed it after several failed YA Paranormal reads before this.
I cannot wait for book 2!

When I bought this, I thought it was paranormal but its actually very much a fantasy from the writing style, which I couldn't get into, to the world building and the characters. I'm not a very big fantasy reader at all but if the style had been a lot more modern I might have managed to finish this because Drac seemed like quite the character though the Princess did nothing for me.

Finally watched this Jennifer garner is so badass in this movie her character reminds me a lot of her most famous badass characters Sydney birstow from alias and electra I was used to love watching alias in the noughties. Theres plenty of action and violence which I would expect from kind of movie. But for me Jennifer is back doing the kind of role that made her famous which makes me glad

I'm not loving it.
So this has been anticipated for some time but it hasn't lived up to the hype. There isn't enough inns in some places to allow the game play to flow. Essentially some people will have to pay to play no matter how far they walk. The beasts are a lot of the same over and over again.

Home Alone on Steroids is how I would describe this snappy little cult thriller/comedy.
It moves at a fast pace after we are given a little insight into the main players, and it's a lot of fun I have to say.
It doesn't try to be something it isn't and doesn't outstay its welcome as the running time is a respectable 90 mins and is very much worth a one time watch....

Masterpiece
A great movie with great actors. Actors owned their characters. Isn't easy to believe that this is just a movie, and not some medieval documentary. A great story about a very important journey. Be prepared to embark on it with our characters, because it's very long. It has something to laugh about, something to cry about, something to think about. Story about trust, honor, friendship and love with a lot of fighting scenes.
