Loved dumbo
Watched Dumbo this week, and I was expecting to hate it, as I don't understand why Disney are trying to make all the classics as live actions, however I loved this telling of the story the elephant is fantastic and expressive, the kids are brilliant and a lot of the supporting characters are really good, only down point was Colin Farewell, I think he's forgotten how to act!

I wasn't sure what to expect going into this book and after the shocking start I thought it looked set to settle into a fantasy setting teen drama (yawn.) However, it suddenly turned on the intrigue level and became a lot more cloak and dagger plotting and less who kissed who.

For the first book in a series (trilogy?) this ended in a satisfying place but leaving me with plenty of desire to pick up the next book

This is not what I expected. I checked this book out thinking it was going to be more science based. Instead it was more anecdotal. It was interesting hearing about different aspects of insomnia and what happens to a person. I found this goes a lot of topic at times. Nevertheless it is one of the the most beautifully metamorphically written book I’ve ever read. Listen to it, at times I felt like I was surrounded by colour.

Rolling Stone's 25th greatest album of all time
Very strange and unsettling live album where James Brown seems to just try to seduce half of the audience, who scream almost the entire time. His performances are very visual so I think you miss a lot by only listening (there are times when the screaming intensifies and you have no idea why). A decent listen but the songs are not his best and the live aspect is similarly not perfect.

Rolling Stone's 8th greatest album of all time
Superb album. It is a bit of a shame that it is labelled as punk as that would put a lot of people off and make them miss out on such a wonderful masterpiece. This isn't "spit and middle finger" punk, it's political, thought-provoking and intelligent punk. For every London Calling, there is a Jimmy Jazz, for every Spanish Bombs there is a Train in Vain. Simply an awesome album.
