Dana (24 KP) rated City of Heavenly Fire in Books

Holy hell. I made myself read this slowly because I knew how much it would hurt. I was not disappointed. Cassandra Clare did an outstanding job in tearing my heart to shreads. Thank you for the pain. I can proudly say that I cried a lot because of this book. This was a beautiful end to a magnificent series. I am glad to have been a part of Clary and her friends' journeys. Thank you again, Cassandra Clare, for giving us readers such an amazing world to disappear into.
Dana (24 KP) rated Plessy v. Ferguson: A Brief History with Documents in Books
Mar 23, 2018
This was a very informative text about the Plessy vs Ferguson case. I had to read this for a Law, Society, and Literature class. It has a lot of really interesting texts about other people's thoughts on the case and essays and speeches that just happened around the time of the case. If you want to learn more about the Plessy vs Ferguson case, pick this book up and give it a read. It's pretty interesting to see what was going on in the minds of the people at this time.

I can honestly say that I did not enjoy this book. For me, Charles Dickens' works are all very repetitive. There's an orphan who continuously falls onto bad times, then suddenly figures things out and gets his life turned around. Everything happened too slowly and was way too drawn for me or it was important information told in passing. The chapters jump around a lot so it can get confusing temporally. There are too many characters with similar names to keep track of. Overall, I didn't enjoy this novel.

I thoroughly enjoyed this story once I'd gotten closer to the end. To begin with, I found this a little clunky to read, things didn't seem to flow so well but once Jakob appeared in the story things started to become a little clearer and things got a little more mysterious.
It's a pretty easy story to predict but its gorgeously creepy and, in the end, very well presented.
I'm loving short stories at the moment, they often bring me a lot more joy than the full-length books I read.

Carbon copy of the first
So they almost did a carbon copy plot of the first, so it becomes very predictable and the twists are no surprise at all. Then do it with a smaller budget, lesser known actors and make it no way near as sexy as the first. If you liked the first one a lot this is a cheap imitation. It's not a bad thriller, but if you have seen the first there are no surprises to be had. Otherwise it's ok viewing if you like thrillers.

Great dialog with awesome quotable lines (4 more)
Just a good time in the theater
special effects at the time
A quintessential 80's flick.
Remember if someone asks you if you are a god you always answer yes....
This was groundbreaking stuff at the time, and is still a lot of fun today!
This movie has inspired so much in the cinematic universe, and was just a really fun time in the theaters. plus here are some really great alternate movie posters. Enjoy, and if you haven't seen it... get to it....
Dean (6925 KP) rated Sex Drive (2008) in Movies
Jun 10, 2018
Yes it's an in your face rude, crude teen sex comedy with a lot of nudity. If you're easy offended then you will be. It's pretty funny in places and just silly in others. However it comes across as a fun film that the cast enjoyed making. The unrated version of the film is quite odd to, as the director will tell you! Not quite up there with American Pie, Euro Trip etc but it should still cause quite a few laughs. That sure is an awesome car!
Connie (244 KP) rated Evil Apples: Dirty as ____. in Apps

Okay but not amazing
I like being able to play whenever I want, but there are a lot of people who either quit or get disconnected. Maybe I don't like this as much because I don't know the people involved, or maybe I just can't get into it. I don't know. It has promise, but I wish the games were bigger. Only playing with 3-5 people and then having 1 or 2 of them quit takes the fun out of it mostly. It's still promising, but definitely not my favorite.

The multiple endings
Communism is just a red-herring.
This movie holds up after multiple viewings. The cast is fantastic, and the movie was completely zany. I always watch the film with all 3 endings, and I can't pick a favorite. This film definitely borrows a lot from 'And Then There Were None' by Agatha Christie, but it's definitely not a bad thing. Madeline Kahn was my favorite in this film, because all of her lines were perfectly delivered.
This is one movie that never needs to be remade.

Joe Julians (221 KP) rated Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018) in Movies

Full review here:
Despite the struggles Solo is having at the box office, this for me is a fun ride with some great performances and a real breezy tone that keeps it enjoyable. My reservations (that this movie wasn't needed) remain unchanged after watching it and I can think of so many more stories in this universe that would be a better pick- but taken for what it is, I had a great time with it. And yes, I enjoyed this a lot more than I did The Last Jedi.
