This novel was nothing that I was expecting. I just expected another light love story, but this book turned out to be a very enjoyable, often funny read. The fact that it was written as lists was also interesting, because the story really came together, even though the details were in short lists of information. I really had a good time reading this book!

One of the best movies I've ever seen
So if your looking for a great Fantasy movie this is it. It's got lore, epic story, background, action, love, drama, effects, great characters, epic performances, even some nice little comedy thrown in.

A good read.
I think every woman can relate to parts of Emma Morley, unrequited love or being passed over as a friend who may say the wrong thing. Dex the cool guy who doesn't recognise what he has. A lovely story and i was sad when i finished it.

I just finished Maggie Shayne's short story, Her Best Enemy, and enjoyed it a lot. Yes, the plot is rushed and I didn't believe they could love each other that soon at the end, but it was a really fun story! I would have liked it better if Ms. Shayne had left them just starting out in their promising relationship and not dropping the L-bomb at the end - it felt too forced and cheesy. But as I said before, it was very fun, and an easy and fast read too! :)

Someone Else's Shadow was another very good story. I really liked Maddie, and while the love angle was again very fast, but at the end I appreciated that the author addresses how fast they fell in love. As with the first story, the ghost angle was creepy and made the whole atmosphere of the story come alive. The chemistry between Maddie and Phil was palpable and it did make me feel like they could in fact fall in love that fast. A great short story!

Dancers in the Dark was another good tale in this anthology. Rue was a likable protagonist who had a horrible past, and while Sean could have been brought to life (ha!) more, he was still a good hero for her. The plot was well-done and I never got annoyed at Rue for feeling sorry for herself or anything, which can happen in stories similar to this. All-in-all it was a fascinating tale.

Magical
This is another installment in Kendra's story. Kendra is an immortal witch who has a tendency to get involved in everything. This book is the story of her and her beloved weaved in with classic stories that have new twists.
Alex Flinn has an amazing talent. I love how she changes stories and gives them new life. In this book Kendra's story is important, but it's not always the main focus. She never outshines the other characters. Overall this was just a really great book.

This is a sweet and sexy romance short story. The chemistry between the characters is hot and very believable. This author has a fab way of giving you a steamy story while going deeper into the romance. Fantastic characters you will fall in love with as you read. I really enjoyed this story and couldn't put this book down till I'd finished it. I can't wait to read more from this author in the future.

This book is a timeless love story written in a beautiful, lyrical way. The story itself was written from several different perspectives, which was quite easy to follow once I got into it and Lucy Foleys descriptive writing style easily transports you to each seperate setting really well. I found it very easy to get absorbed into the story and was eager to find out how everything was going to unfold. No spoilers, but, although bittersweet, I absolutely loved the ending and thought it was done brilliantly!

Kristina (502 KP) rated The Beast (The Beast, #1) in Books

I felt like this story had some potential, especially with the first few chapters. However, it quickly changed for me. "The Beast' is written in dual personalities, that of Dimitri and Columbia, which suited the story fine, but a lot of it felt boringly repetitious - reading almost the exact same moments, just with different points of view. Then came the instalove. Sure, Columbia put up a decent fight, but everything that happens before Columbia returns home literally happens within 2 days, tops. By then, Dimitri is already changing and deciding she's the cure to his darkness and Columbia is trying not to confess that she's already in love with him. I hate to say it, but once both characters suddenly decided it didn't matter how fast they fell for each other, it's what they truly felt, I lost a lot of interest in the story. Jaden promises a tale of darkness without the "typical love story" aspect. Sure, most love stories don't involve an ex-Russian mafia murderer falling in love with a self-harming, sexually abused young woman... But the instalove, the immediate realization that this person is "different", the sudden desire to change a characteristic that's been ingrained for years... That stuff was fluff.
