I just watched this film for the first time yesterday. I don't typically watch horror films/scary movies because I have an overactive imagination and don't need any other nightmare fuel.
I was finally convinced after a conversation with a co-worker when we were talking about how sometimes people just snap, and he emphasized how Jack Torrance's actions were completely fitting with a psychological break. I had also seen various references to the film, such as the extended scene in Ready Player One, and a South Park Halloween episode when Randy Marsh buys a Blockbuster and the same situation happens.
I wouldn't actually deem this as a straight-up horror film, it was definitely more of a psychological thriller. It was so well done (haven't read the book, nor will I ever, not a fan of Stephen King). The music fitting with the cinematography and creating the mood and overall tension in the film. It's definitely one of the best films I've watched as of late, and I'm glad I finally got around to it.

It is a masterpiece for sure. You should try and find documentary Room 237 which talks a lot about The Shining and how Kubrick filmed the fake moon landing.

The Story of Doctor Dolittle (Doctor Dolittle, #1)

Book Favorite

"The first book that really made an impression was The Story of Dr. Doolittle by Hugh Lofting. An English country doctor who lived in Puddleby-on-the-Marsh who was taught how to speak to animals by his parrot, Polynesia. His amazing household ranging from Jip, the dog and Whitey the white mouse to Dab Dab the duck who took over as housekeeper when the Doctor’s sister left in a huff because he would have animals in the house and she found mice nesting in her linen cupboard…Mum got it for me from the library – we could not afford new books. I read it at least twice before it had to go back. In fact I loved it so much that Danny (my grandmother, with whom Mum, my sister Judy and I went to live after war broke out and my father joined up in the army) gave it to me as a great treat for Christmas, 1944. It was one of the most exciting presents I remember – my very own book!"

One of America's Best Animated Series
Contains spoilers, click to show
Exo Squad was a show that doesn't get the credit it deserves. This show was one of the best American made animated shows. The only show I put above it is the 90's X-Men. The premise is that humans have terraformed Mars and Venus and now can live on these planets. This show centers around a group of soldiers who pilot fighting machines called E-frames. J.T. Marsh is the leader of the group and they are at odds with Governor Phaeton, leader of the Neosapiens. Neosapiens are genetically engineered humans built to be basically slaves to Homosapiens. They are superior in strength and other things. One day, the Neosapiens decided they had enough and rose up and started a war with the Homosapiens. As I said a very well done series. Season 1 is available on DVD. I think season 2 is coming to the soon. The entire series is being streamed on the Peacock channel on roku. Give it a watch!

Delia Owens delivers us the story of Kya the "Marsh Girl" abandoned by her family in Barkley Cove, North Carolina.

The novel switches between times, something I always struggle a little with when reading a novel of this type. Following Kya growing up, being left in the marshes, finding and losing love and learning important life lessons along the way.

It then switches to the discovery and investigation of Barkley Cove's celebrity and much loved football player Chase Andrews. The locals decided that Kya is most likely to be the murder suspect.

Whilst beautifully written, and weaving joy and sadness through what is a very descriptive novel, I did struggle to read through this story, putting it down more times than continuing to read, and at one stage almost considered not finishing the story. I feel that perhaps the ratings and attention this book has had are perhaps over rated. Its a nice story, a little too wordy in places, but worth a read, but do not expect it to live up to the hype.

I really loved this book. <3 It was one of those books where I had seen it around, but it didn't seem like my type of book, but once I read it, I ended up loving it.
