Dated but good
This collection of comics from the 60s is quite an epic read, in terms of volume. We see a different side to Thanos at times, as he seems to be less powerful than in more recent stories and more vulnerable or in need of help. The collection covers interaction with Iron Man, then Captain Marvel, then Adam Warlock, then the Avengers and finally Spider-man gets in on the action.
This is mostly one continuous story as Thanos' plans are foiled and he comes back time and time again.
The story has some real metaphysical mumbo-jumbo that I could have done without (including my favourite, most cringey line ever "Death by ... Time-mind Sync-warp!"), and the dialogue really has dated pretty badly, most notably in the Captain Marvel section.
A real epic read to get something of a feel for Thanos' origins, and a good lead in to the Infinity War/Gauntlet saga.

Thanks for this - I’ll have to show my husband. He has all the Infinity Gauntlet/ War/ Aftermath comics (and a load more besides ?? ). I’ll have to ask him if he’s read/ got these as well!

Its quite a pricey book because it is massive (I have been chipping away at it since October!), but is free on Prime or Kindle Unlimited (and I think you can get a free 3 month trial on KU at the moment if you hunt through "today's deals" on Amazon).

I thoroughly enjoyed this movie from start to finish, an emotional rollercoaster that I think was the best way to culminate a 22 movie comic book arc.
This film had everything, all the Marvel characters you know and love, a homage to the past films, a cap Vs cap showdown and a battle the likes of which has never been seen.
Even though it is a film I desperately want to see again and again I did downgrade it from full marks as there are plot holes, especially as they are so careful not to mess with the time line, even though the final battle does mess with the timeline completely. Unless there is something that can later be explained.
Overall, I laughed, I cried and I was fully entertained with this movie and would recommend to anyone as long as they have seen the earlier marvel releases.
To conclude I love Avengers: Endgame 3000!

Thor just turned cool
I know people are going to read this and tell me I'm crazy for actually saying this: BEST MARVEL FILM EVER. From the very first Thor movie to the last avengers film, I thought that Thor never made it anywhere near the top 3 spot for best Marvel superhero. Then along came Ragnarok and I've gotta say, Thor kicked arse. We can't blame Thor for being the uncool avenger, I think we have to blame the writers for the pretty bad Thor titles before this. Ragnarok is filled with tons of action and comedy. The story is centred on a prophecy which once it has begun, Asguard, home of Odin, Thor and fellow Asguardians, will fall and be reduced to ashes. Thor once again takes up arms against a threat again a little too close for comfort. This one is definitely the one to beat.

The fourteenth movie in Marvel's meta-franchise is an impressively faithful attempt at adapting a challenging book for the screen. If the story of a brilliant, arrogant man undergoing a personal trauma and discovering his inner hero seems a little familiar, that's only because the studio has used it as the basis of at least two other movies before, but it's a solid structure imaginatively employed here.

Cumbersome Bandersnatch leads the movie with the charisma you'd expect; the lack of a really strong villain is a bit of a problem but also a frequent issue for Marvel. Visual effects give the impression of Ditkoesque imagery without slavishly copying it; may cause migraines/motion sickness in delicate viewers. You almost get the sense that Marvel are doing a Dr Strange movie at this point just to tick a box, but if nothing else it promises to move this series in some interesting new directions. More movies should have a harpsichord on the soundtrack.

Long-in-the-works Marvel movie gets around lack of big names and (if we're totally honest) significance to the ongoing MCU meta-plot through sheer good humour, inventiveness, and charm. Loveable rogue gets recruited by curmudgeonly ex-superhero to take on his mantle as very tiny special operative Ant-Man. Possibly most famous for the fact that original writer-director Edgar Wright was fired from the movie, allegedly for refusing to stick with the Marvel house style - his influence over the movie is still very noticeable to the discerning, though.

Absolute originality probably isn't the movie's strong point (it is sort of vaguely reminiscent of various other movies in the series), but the caper-heist plot structure is at least a little bit different, as is the 'people get really tiny' schtick. Also, compared to the movies on either side of this one it's a relief to see something not in danger of buckling under its own weight. Doesn't take itself too seriously; piles of fun.

I am in no way a comic book reader, and maybe that doesn't give me any entitlement to judge. But my god was this film boring.
We decided to watch it tonight. I happened to enjoy the first quarter of the movie, I love Greek mythology so it appealed to me. However why they felt to make the movie so long and drawn out I don't know. In the first half I liked wonder woman, women's solidarity and all that haha, but by the second half I wanted her gone. She annoyed the crap out of me. Everyone raved about the scene in no mans land, I found it ridiculous.
And who on earth thought of casting David Thewlis as Ares god of war. I mean really? REALLY?! I love the guy but come on, marvel have Chris Hemsworth as Thor, he's literally a god in day to day life. DC decide on the nerdy dark arts teacher.
Think I'll stick with marvel in the future.
