A nice change from the over-rated Marvel powerhouse
So when this came out, reviews were either positive or negative across the board. You can put me in the positive column. It's not great, but it's good. It's just so nice of a change from the Marvel "got to see them all, even though they're not as good as we say" universe. It's so good to see a comic book movie that's under 2 hours, that moves along at a good pace & is not in the least boring. Let's get the negatives out of the way. Sophie Tucker is a terrible actress. She's terrible as Jean Grey. And although I did find the movie to move along at a good pace, I found the story lacking. They did cram one of comic's greatest stories into a short (for a superhero) film. Aside from Tucker, the acting was very good in the film. And let's just say, the X-Men, along with Magneto's gang, kick some serious ass in one of the best scenes I've seen in a hero flick. Like I said, the film is good, not great. Is it enjoyable? Definitely. Would I watch it again, yes.

Wakanda Forever!
In late 2020 the actor Chadwick Boseman died, after a long - and private - battle with cancer, aged 43.

He was the original Black Panther.

That meant there was a lot of talk at the time about what Marvel was going to do: re-cast, or not?

The answer was 'not', with a pre-credits sequence in this movie dealing with his (and the characters off-screen) passing, before the usual Marvel logo montage concentrates solely on him.

His on-screen sister Shuri then takes the lead for the rest of this movie, ably supported by on-screen mum Angela Bassett, as the nation of Wakanda struggles to accept his passing and as the rest of the world start looking for their own supplies of Vibranium, encroaching on a secret underwater civilization who then also approach Wakanda with a threat couched as an offer of cooperation.

The loss of T'Challa is felt throughout the movie, with Shuri railing against his passing and unable to accept what has happened for the most part of it, right up until the (somewhat moving) very final scenes of the film.

References the Marvel world abundantly. (3 more)
The soundtrack incredulously represents the setting of Luke Cage.
A wonderful display of diverse characters.
Interesting representation of 'African-American' culture within Harlem.
A few poor action cuts and transitions which slightly break the suspension of disbelief. (2 more)
Fight scenes are slow and simple. This could be to represent Luke Cage's nature but I don't believe it to be a sufficient and engaging representation.
Feels like it awkwardly misses something mid season after specific events happen (no spoilers). The transition of the story is poorly executed.

Good job on villians
Leave it to Marvel Studios and Sony to make the Vulture an actual cool and intimidating villian.
I'm really glad that the 'rehashing the origin story' was not done and, at least by now, people should already know how Spider-Man came to be. I was concerned the coming of age premise would be annoying, but they did a great job and had me immersed into the story quickly.

There were several laugh out loud moments for me, so expect a movie that you can have fun with.

This is the best type of filler. Paul Rudd’s charismatic hero returned to the big-screen in a sequel that was fun, if not as interesting as its predecessor. The villain is good though and definitely better than the irritating Yellowjacket.

Michelle Pfieffer adds a touch of class to proceedings, even if she’s an underused presence and the return of Michael Douglas’ Hank Pym is great fun. This second outing for the pint-sized hero is great to watch, if completely forgettable.

Anyone follow Box Office Mojo? Great place to get all the latest box office info.

Looks like March mostly was a dismal failure with A Wrinkle in Time, Pacific Rim 2, Tomb Raider and even Ready Player One turning out to be disappointments.

If you are a non Star Wars/Marvel property, things are not looking good for you.

The only pleasant surprise lately (other than Black Panther of course) has been the new Jumanji. Who would've thought film would have done over $400 million in the US alone.

What do you think?

Fun game for super hero fans
Strike force is a fun game where the player collects Marvel heroes and villains and battles with teams of five characters to level up and gain new characters. It’s almost exactly the same game as Star Wars Heroes and Disney Heroes (all three from Disney). This game allows you to auto play a level you’ve already beat without losing a team member automatically to farm supplies without using some sort of ticket, which saves a lot of time.

I Love Movies Like This
I am a big fan of Marvel, and I couldn't have been happier with this movie. Thor is one of the classics, based off of ancient mythology. He is a God. A protector. In this movie they gave him a funny side and it makes it that much more enjoyable.

I love the realistic sarcasm that was thrown into the battle scenes. While the costumes are a bit odd, the movie itself is well made and I would definitely watch it again.

I'll start this review by stating how this movie has a giant name behind it in Gunn. Having watched the marvel films he has produced I had high expectations, plus I just love a good horror.

However, his talent does not seem to extent into horror. The horror element was seen from the start, and there were no shocks in the film. I'd still recommend the film to anyone dippong their toes in the water, but not for anyone who wants a good film to watch.
