"I like all of Weisskopf’s books, but this autobiography above all—in particular the chapter called ‘Mozart and Quantum Mechanics,’ in which he compares the beauties and joys of music with those of mathematics and science."

This was a great movie! It was about 3 women who worked for NASA and the struggles they faced being black women working there. It also was how Katherine Goble helps in the mission and finds flaws in the computers mathematics for the launch. The acting is great in this! I just love Katherine, she's my favorite of the 3 ladies. They also have many other great actors. Just love this movie!

"I got really obsessed with Queen when I was about 15 or 16. I don’t know what it was. I just love the songs, they’re incredibly well-written. Total pop songs, but so deep and technical. I remember reading a thing saying that Brian May refused to tour the world until he finished his degree in mathematics and physics because he wanted something to fall back on if the music thing didn’t work. I thought that was so cool."

You really have to think and follow in this story (0 more)
Scientifically researched
It may seems boring or it may seem interesting. You have to pay attention to detail in the book as you read, as it puts into place the scenario that is unfolding. The movie explains some of it but does give the book justice as it would have been time consuming. Read the book first. Then you can ride along the senseless movie ride and actually know wha t is going on that the other movie goers do not.

A rather juvenile romp
As the title suggests, Elif Batuman's novel explores linguistics and Russian literature through the eyes of a young Harvard undergraduate, Selin. The character falls in love with an older, neurotic Hungarian mathematics student, and travels to his country to be near him. It is occasionally humorous, and describes a rite of passage - but no more than that. Unfortunately, at times it is rather banal and tedious.

While Batuman's writing is to be desired, the content fell short as the narrative varies between sharp and rambling. The naivety of Selin also appears slightly unbelievable, and would probably be better geared at a younger audience.

Plagued by insane nightmare visions, Walter Gilman seeks help in MiskatonicUniversity's infamous library of forbidden books, where, in the pages of Abdul Alhazred's dreaded Necronomicon, he finds terrible hints that seem to connect his own studies in advanced mathematics with the fantastic legends of elder magic. "The Dreams in the Witch House," gathered together here with more than twenty other tales of terror, exemplifies H. P. Lovecraft's primacy among twentieth-century American horror writers. greatest practitioner of the classic horror tale. (Stephen King)
