Awix (3310 KP) rated Captain Kronos - Vampire Hunter (1974) in Movies
Feb 14, 2018 (Updated Feb 14, 2018)
Somewhat atypical late-period Hammer horror; feels a bit like a pilot for a TV show but is none the worse for that. Dope-smoking, katana-swinging action man Kronos does battle with a vampire that feeds off youth itself.
Works hard to avoid the usual clichés, with some great moments of black comedy along the way. References to other Hammer films from around the same time will please the faithful. Action choreography by doyen of swordmasters William Hobbs means that the fight sequences (especially the climactic duel) are considerably better than you'd expect from such a low-budget movie. Should have been the start of a series, but Hammer had run out of money.

Dice you don't roll, and books you don't read?!?!
This is a smart little game, that easily travels with you, the dice represent values, and therefore don't get rolled. It's essentially a set collection game with the values ever changing and the crux of the game is what to keep and what to pass, and then what to bid on when it comes up. Be savvy with your money until the time is right and get the best collection. Great little game. Not a ton of depth, but plays better with larger player counts, not especially good with 2 players.

Cumberland (1142 KP) rated Once Upon A Deadpool (Deadpool 2 PG-13 Version) (2018) in Movies
Dec 16, 2018
Should have went straight to video
I really like Deadpool 2, and this is basically the same thing. It has been cleaned up a bit so they could make it PG13. They also added in a few new scenes.
The things they added were funny, and the changes didn't take away from the over all effect of the movie.
The main reason I am giving it such a low rating is because, it was completely unnecessary. I would have understand a PG13 DVD release, but a theater release is just over kill. I think this is just a money grab mixed with an attempt to keep Deadpool relevant why they work on the next movie.

Ross (3284 KP) rated The Boys Volume 6: Self Preservation Society in Books

Some action and some character backstory at long last
Again, this volume is split in two - we have the story of when Payback (one of the corporate machine's top money-makers) are sent to give The Boys a message, and end up getting their bottoms handed to them. This story is good fun, with some thrilling action, more ridiculous superheroes being walloped.
The second half gives us some well-deserved backstory for some of The Boys - MM, Frenchie and The Female all get their origin story. These are at time sobering (MM), and at other times just flat out hilarious (Frenchie), but all serve to put some meat on the bones of these unusual characters.

Sarah Betts (103 KP) rated Freshman Summer (Freshman Dorm Super, #1) in Books

Hawai'i! Enviromentalism! Pseudo-adultery! And somehow this is one of the most boring entries in the FD series. Basically, Lauren's parent shove a bunch of money at her (as they do), and she decides that with the stress of her friends
1. losing a parent
2. overcoming drug addiction
3. dealing with an obnoxious room mate
4. getting married
I think I might have gone with therapy. Anyway, it's a nice gesture on Lauren's part and the girls join up with an enviromental group for students and shenanigans occur.
This includes Winnie and Faith almost getting blown up by dynamite, and still! The book was boring!
I think it need an evil doppelganger. Yeah, that's it!

Clint still going strong at 89 years oldA
A real slow burner of a film but told in a wonderful way by a true Hollywood legend.Based on a true story Eastwood portrays a man who has lost his home, his livelihood and his family and sees that there isnt much out there for him.So after being pointed in the right direction he decides to become a drugs mule for a drugs cartel. He becomes their most reliable mule delivering their product and making himself some money in the process.
A real pleasure of a film that goes along at a nice slow pace and gives us another wonderful performance by a hollywood great.

Use Amazon all the time, so quick and easy to use, but it is so easy to spend money because it stores your card details so just click buy now the product is bought. Yes I do think of the local shops I could be going to and yes this is why the high street is declining but late at night or early in the morning and you need something, just click on amazon, find the item and buy and yes if you are a prime member it arrives the next day. Have even bought an item for £3 and had free delivery, it would cost me more for petrol to find the shop that sell this item.
