Leanne Crabtree (480 KP) rated Running Into Love (Fluke my Life, #1) in Books
Sep 19, 2019
So I read my first book by this author back in July, Catching Him--a Netgalley read. I liked it but wasn't blown away. So I decided to give this a go, too.
Fawn is running down the street, listening to her music--strangely with her eyes closed?--and bumps literally into Levi sending them sprawling onto the floor. There's an instant attraction but both ignore it and trade a few insults before heading in opposite directions. Only it turns out Levi is moving in across the hall from Fawn.
Before Fawn realises it, she's in a relationship with Levi and they are a cute couple, though Fawn is a little dumb at times. Well, I thought she was a little dumb, Levi thought she was cute in her cluelessness.
I do think the author is very good at writing Alpha males, but they're guys who care about their women and make it obvious they want them. I did like that about Levi.
Fawn's mum and dad made me laugh, mainly her mum with some of her crazy comments like "get yourself knocked up so you don't lose him" and "when's the wedding?"
One again, I liked it but I wasn't in love with the storyline or the characters.

Merissa (12058 KP) rated Amethyst Flame (Butterfly Witch #2) in Books
Mar 7, 2022 (Updated Jul 3, 2023)
AMETHYST FLAME is the second book in The Butterfly Witch series. We return to Mo as she heads out for a weekend in Vegas. She is still living with her mum and Manager at the Desert Freeze shop. Both she and her mum are still reeling from what happened at the end of the first book.
If I had to say what this book is about - in a nutshell - I would say trust. Or lack of it. Whatever. Basically, this whole book is a mindf*ck of who Mo can trust and rely on. There are secrets within secrets with all of them, but it is Mo on the frontline.
This book expands on what started in the first part, including a revelation about Mo's moths, and will absolutely leave you wanting more. My Kindle nearly hit the wall with the ending and I can't wait for the next book!!!
An Urban Fantasy where the heroine doesn't have all sorted within five minutes. Highly recommended by me.
** same worded review will appear elsewhere **
* A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book, and the comments here are my honest opinion. *

Great in one sitting (2 more)
So down to earth and honest
Lots of home truths - hilarious!
Reality check for all us Mummies!
Absolutely hilarious, down to earth and honest account of motherhood and those moments of doubt as to whether you're doing it right!?
If you read this and don't see some part of your life within the pages......or like me, tons! then you're not doing it right!
If you're stuck in a rutt with your reading....and more importantly, in your life as a Mum or wife .....then relax and have a giggle with this book!

Ruth Frampton (577 KP) rated My Secret Dog in Books
Apr 10, 2018
Didn't get the pet you wanted for Christmas and thinking of getting one and hiding it in the cupboard? In this story, a little girl "adopts" a dog, and doesn't tell her mother. Keeping it in the cupboard teaches her that not everything should be kept in there. When she finally admits to her mum about her pet a good chat teaches her about responsibility.
An enjoyable read, with illustrations that are simple and easily taken in, but may not be to everyone's appeal this book is a good way to bring up the subject of responsible pet ownership with younger children.

Dean (6926 KP) rated 8 Mile (2002) in Movies
Feb 17, 2018
A very good, solid film about a young white rapper, trying to cut it on the rap scene in Detroit. Seems loosely based on Eminem's background? There is a good supporting cast especially by Kim Basinger playing his mum. This will surprise a lot of people as it's not the the type of film most will expect it to be. Eminem plays the role well. Even if you're not a fan of his music or rap in general this is still a watchable film about someone trying to better themselves and break away from their humble surroundings.
Dean (6926 KP) rated Big Little Lies - Season 2 in TV

A very good 2nd series
I breezed through the 2nd series very quickly, again only 7 episodes long. Perry's Mum, the excellent Meryl Streep, turns up and has many questions about her sons death. Will the Monterey 5 be able to keep it together or will many things start to unravel for them? It's maybe not as dramatic as the first series storyline or have as many big reveals. However the writing is just as good and the story is gripping. If you liked the first series you should like this as well.
