A touching story
I haven't read the book but after seeing the trailer it looked like it might have a Murder mystery element to it. It's actually a mix of genres from life story, courtroom drama, mystery and Romance.
It looks lovely from the setting and cinematography as most of it is filmed out in the Marsh land. Daisy Edgar-Jones stands out the most from the cast. Playing a girl who becomes a loner and recluse almost shunned by the small local town. She becomes accused of Murder of a young man she was once dating but is there anything to it more than town gossip. A entertaining film although the courtroom side of it is only a small back drop to her life story. Almost a Romance story at the heart of it as well, with a Notebook vibe. Maybe not as deep or clever as it might imply but I definitely enjoyed the story.

Murder Any Witch Way ( Brimstone Bay book 1)
By N.M. Howell
⭐⭐⭐
Being a witch is hard. It's even harder when you live in a town that doesn't believe in witches. When young witch River Halloway moves to sleepy Brimstone Bay for her very first journalist job, she doesn't expect to cover anything ground-breaking. That is, until a paranormal festival comes to town and a body is found on opening night. Now, with all evidence pointing towards a witch, River must find the true killer before she becomes the prime suspect.Or worse, the next murder victim. So much for it being a sleepy little town.
It was ok and I liked it but it could have been so much better. I think it lacked a little personality the characters were a little flat. It was a quick ok to good read with masses of potential.

Dean (6927 KP) rated Grantchester - Season 1 in TV

Good storylines (1 more)
Good actors
A well made series
I've seen this mentioned and the book it's based on getting high praise, so I thought I'd check it out. Someone said it was very Agatha Christie like, maybe in terms of the setting and characters. There is normally a murder to be solved but it normally relies on the main characters interaction with people, rather than any clues being unraveled. Still interesting nevertheless.
Carleigh (2 KP) rated My Favorite Murder with Karen Kilgariff and Georgia Hardstark in Podcasts
May 21, 2018
Like hanging out with friends but murdery
This was one of the first podcasts I really got into. Karen and Georgia crack me up and I look forward to mondays and Thursday’s every week so I can have them in my earbuds! It’s like gossiping about murder with two of your best friends at brunch.
Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2570 KP) rated Murder in Grub Street (Sir John Fielding, #2) in Books
Mar 9, 2018
Sir John Fielding investigates when a family of printers are brutally murdered in 1760's London. This is the second in the series. I loved the characters as much as in the first, but I found the plot way too slow and predictable, with a second plot taking up way too much time.

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2570 KP) rated Mew Is for Murder (Theda Krakow, #1) in Books
Mar 9, 2018
When Theda meets her new neighbor, a crazy cat lady, she thinks this might be a good subject for an article. Going back, she finds her neighbor dead. Why was she killed? The characters are good, but the writing and plot were weak. I wanted to like this book, but I just couldn't.

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2570 KP) rated Immaculate Reception (Madeline Bean, #2) in Books
Mar 9, 2018
The pope is coming to LA, and Madeline is catering the welcome breakfast. But while prepping, she finds a letter that seems to confess to a murder, and it sets her off on a mystery with ties to the past. Still my favorite in the series with a fast paced, twisty plot and such wonderful characters.

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2570 KP) rated Key Lime Pie Murder (Hannah Swensen, #9) in Books
Mar 9, 2018
The Tri-County fair is in full swing and Hannah is acting as judge in the baked goods contest. But when her fellow judge is murdered, Hannah begins digging for clues. It's always nice to see these characters again. Hannah did get on my nerves when she wouldn't share clues with the police, however.
